I posted something about this on another forum but, here it is again:

I'm hoping to join the 105mph run in August. It would be nice to drive at a high speed without worrying about those cops!

I don't see it as any different than placing a 160mph speedo in the car, and giving it 306 horses. If we really wanted to stop the promotion of speed, cars would come with govenors that kicked in long before the 140ish mph mark. Besides being illegal though, most insurance companies wouldn't appreciate tracking the car, making it all relative. I say just take responsiblity for your actions, and if possible do it in a safer environment where one can't hurt other people.

That being said, hankfully, the other car came at a time when they didn't incorporate governors as heavily.

So the IS350 has a governer at 145mph??

I don't think the M3 has a governer on it. Many people take the M3 up to 170+mph.

Which can be seen here. http://www.crossroadvideos.com/hotte...58F2E6234E.htm

Can the governor be removed? How fast can it go without the governor? (just for bragging rights)

I did 140km in my IS250.
the car do not give me as much confidence as my BMW or my old Impresa.

I think the steeling wheel is a bit light for high speed.

but overal the car feels safe at high speed.

The fastest I have done in a car is in E46M3 I did 270km but I ran out of road.

I know it is not smart to drive this kind of speed on a public road, but it is hard to not to do, when you are in the middle of no where, and no traffic for miles.

just do it safe, try not to danger other road users.

I read an article somewhere (will post it if I can find it) saying that the car was tested at 165mph by Lexus in Japan.

I have gotten mine to 115 mph will running with a black GS 430. WOW, what a RUSH!!!

Does anyone know of any legal ways to open up her up? In Florida preferably... I wish there was some sort of autobahn here in the states... I feel like she is being held back when I can't really open her up on the road. I have been trying to find local circle tracks, or any track for that matter, that allows for personal cars to run, but haven't had any luck yet.

Any ideas???

Montana had no speed limit on highways for a while. Wonder if this is still the case?

I only go fast (>80) between 4 and 5 AM when there's little traffic and no cops.
120 can be achieved just by passing a couple of trucks, above that you need a lot of space. That's why I haven't exceeded 130 yet.
