Default How fast have you taken your IS?

OK, I admit I hijacked the idea from one of the other forums. But I am curious to see how much people have tested this car. As for myself, the car was taken up to 130 (for a amount of time) on a recent trip from NorCal to SoCal. And she was still PURRING

Unless this was done on a track, do we really need to promote illegal, er, stupidity.

There are plenty of areas in this country where this is perfectly safe, not legal, but safe.

That said, about 115mph.

Personally, I never exceed 55mph in my IS350 but just knowing that it can do at least 65mph warms my pocket book.

I've taken my IS to 130 before. I-5 at night is a good place to do it. A Valentine One is also good to have to search the CHP's Ka band radar from long distances.

It's funny to me how some folks on this forum will talk about the legality or the stupidity of driving this car at high speeds, but will later brag about the horsepower and how sporty the vehicle is. While I think that driving on regular community roads at high speeds is crazy, I also believe that if you're on a road less traveled or one of those nice country roads, you should open your car up and see what those 300+ horses are really about. If you don't want to really drive this car, then I suggest you get a station wagon or minivan. Just my opinion though. All said, you can still drive this car safely at high speeds........so just use your best judgement for times you want to lead-foot it.

Speaking of high speeds, does any one know anything about or have heard or participated in this race in Nevada where they open up a public highway and allow you to go as fast as you want?

134mph. Is it just me or does the car struggle after 130?

There are plenty of ways to use the power and capabilities of the IS350 without breaking the law. For example, I love accelerating from an onramp up to highway speeds in no time. This is almost even a "safety feature" because those old ladies in their slow 4-cylinder sedans that take 20 seconds to get up to highway speed just break the flow of highway traffic and make an accident more likely. The faster you can merge into highway traffic at highway speeds, the better.

Accelerating out of a toll booth is also pretty fun. One of the only times you can really do 0-60 in the real world...

I agree that going 100+ on a deserted road in Nevada is ok... But out here in the Northeast, there are very few, if any, places where that kind of speed would be safe. I've never been over 95, and I've also never been on a straight, open highway with no traffic. I need to take a roadtrip to the Midwest.

Personally I've hit 140, & the car in no way shape or form felt like it was struggling, it actually felt like it still wanted 2 move....... Gotta luv this 350

I wouldn't say it struggles.... It doesn't accelerate as quickly as it does at lower speeds, but it sure does get up there.

little OT here but has anyone heard of a chip or anything that will take off the limiter coming out for the 350's?

I've seen videos of that. I watched a video of a 350Z losing it on a straight road

I wanted to find out how to get into that too. I guess it isn't too far from Vegas.
