Default OEM spoilers (not drilled on)

Was wondering for all who have gotten the OEM spoiler and have installed them with just the 3M tape, how has it been holding up. I know from previous threads that when installed has a slight gap. I'm more worried about going threw the car wash (dealer car wash) and the spoiler coming off. Just wanted some feedback cause I want to get the spoiler but really dont want to drill if I dont have to.

Thanks

Yeah, but most after market lip spoilers for MB are taped on anyways. That's the way they were meant to be put on, onlike the IS OEM spoiler which "requires" you to drill it on. I want to hear from people who have installed using only the 3M tape.

Is just tape strong enough to keep it on during strong winds, high speeds, rain, etc? How much is it for the tape? and are there DIY directions for this?

My OEM AMG spoiler for my car was suppoed to be drilled on. But I installed it using 3M tape. I have a friend who has an OEM spoiler on his toyota solora that is taped on (which is bigger than both the clk and the is) and he has had no problems.

IF your so worried about the spoiler falling off have it drilled on. IF not you should be fine.

That's good to hear. Yeah, I think I'm going to end up buying the spoiler soon.

Thanks all

I have a RMM spolier that has been taped on my IS300 for 3 years with no problems. I've been through carwashes with it, both brushless and traditional brush washes.

What do they make this tape with super glue? It sounds like if you tried to remove it it would take the trunk lid with it

It just some heavy duty double sided 3M tape. I believe you can get this at a Home Depot or Lowes.

I agree, my sister's BMW 3er has had a lip spoiler on it for about four years taped on and it's doing just fine.

do you attach the tape to the entire surface of the spoiler that makes contact with the car or are there just some specific places where you need to place it? Which tape is it also?

3M double-sided, to the entire surface, or it'll lift.

Is it just any 3M double sided tape or is this like an industrial tape that comes on a sheet, etc?
