I'm still undecided on the taillights. I just know I've seen the same arrangement on another car.

The tails looks like the ones on the 750Li.

Thanks, I was thinking along those lines.

The tail lights on the BMW seem off. I would have liked it better if the bottom of the lights on the trunk were even with the bottom of the other lights. Just kinda jars my eyes when I look at it. I do kinda like the agressive crease on the side. All in all though it would not make me question my decision on the is350.

[QUOTE=SCoupe]No bimmer fan here.

What are we to say about a 300 hp twin turbo in a Bimmer...is that best they got, fifteen years after Toyota delivered a conservative 320 hp twin in the Supra. My SC300 2jz-gte delivers north of 350 hp

so you think the output is 300hp because that's all they could squeeze out of it? by design it's a low pressure turbo application so as to have minimal lag and to enhance drivability and reliability, its an alternative to a displacement increase to the 3.5ltr. range that is felt to be more fuel efficient consistent with a developing trend towards more prevalent use of forced induction rather than displacement increases. if they wanted to they could boost that up to 400hp but that would engender unacceptable throttle modulation and morover remove the car out of it's segment.

Agree. Someone will come out with a chip that will boost power in that thing considerably. Dinan probably won't go past 375 as that would steal the new M3's thunder at 400 HP.

In stock form, I've read that the TT in the 3 will develop it's peak torque rating (295 lb/ft) from 1800-5800 RPM. Talk about flexible.

you're right on both counts; 1)people are already talking about chipping it and 2)the engine does deliver it's peak torque over a broad range as does the tt

What are we to say about a 300 hp twin turbo in a Bimmer...is that best they got, fifteen years after Toyota delivered a conservative 320 hp twin in the Supra. My SC300 2jz-gte delivers north of 350 hp for about $35,000 less invest and is certainly a match and surpasses it in many important areas with the Supra suspension and brake transplant. See you on the highway in my rear view mirrror.
In 1989 my 3.535 cc inline six made 311hp, 265ft lbs of torque. So, it took 15 years for Toyota to catch up? BTW, it is not engineers but managers or accountants who dictate engine output.

BTW, the Supra suspension and brakes do not surpass either the IS350 suspension or BMW E90 suspension. Things have come a long way since then.

I guess just like many other cars, once you see it in person, the design makes sense.

I'm not feeling that bimmer... The rear quarter panel is HUGE, would look better as a sedan.
