i've ordered the pedals, and i've installed pedals on a car before and its not that difficult. but a post over on my.is leads to the conclusion the accelerator assembly needs to be removed to install the accelerator pedal. this seems a little overkill, can anyone confirm?

Yep. Taking the pin out of the accelerator pedal In Situ is impossible.
Removing the whole assembly is hard too due to hard-to-reach bolts.
Take the accelerator assy apart by removing 4 screws, place in vise and remove pin with a nail setter.
Then remount; you'll have to put the sprint back in there which requires patience.
But nothing too hard, did the pedals last week in 40 minutes.
