This bad news has obviously proved my theory that Lexus shot down us aftermarket stereo guys. I was thinking the same thing to replace the cd changer, but as you stated it kills the HVAC

The only question I had about your possible install is with a single-din Nav unit, when the screen comes out you are going to probably hit the shifter, just a possibility to look at.

Another suggestion you may want to look at is possibly relocating the LCD for the Hazards and Clock or remove it all together. I am pretty sure with a little custom work you could make a single-din opening right there.

i was wondering if i can bypass the amp all together i wont be using it for my speakers. the stock mids and tweeters wont be in use because i will be installing 6.5" components. i want to use the rockford fosqate 360 and intercept the wire before they go to the amp and from there it turns into rca's to go out to an amp . then from the amp hook the speakers directly.
www.rockfordfosqate.com read about the 360 its suppose to be for aftermarket sound with the stock reciever.
or maybe i should just do it and relocate the changer into my glove compartment?

Well, the audio signal (for the base audio system) is carried on the four very small wires on the second plug from the front of the amp. Red (right +), green (right -), black (left +), and white (left -) are the wires. But these audio cables are a full volume range signal and the volume control on the deck will be made useless except for on/off functions. (I’ve already tested these audio signal wires.) Remember what I said previously about volume and other pre-amp functions were done in the amp?

Technically you could solder RCA cables to them and run them directly into the RF 360. If the RF 360 had its own remote volume control it could be used.

One thing I have found out about the factory deck that I don’t like is it has a fair amount of signal noise (hiss) when low volume music is played, like piano and classical music.

Maybe this summer I plan on relocating my factory CD/radio to the glove box and install my Alpine F#1 CDA-7990. After using this deck in my previous car for 3 years I can’t stand to let it sit in the closet.

hey cmusic how about i intercept the wires coming out of the amp and route them through the RF360 then through my amp and then to the speakers would that be ok? i just recently bought my focal polyglass v2's and amp and i dont want them to go to waste. the amp i got is Rockford Fosqate 25 to life power1000. its a $1600 dollar amp that i do not want to waste. or would it be better if i just install a single din and relocate the changer into the glove?
