yeah its dumb. If it is beeping so that you know that the car is still on when you open the door.... then it should turn off when you turn off the car.

this is absurd. youre saying you would rather repeatedly ask the same thing instead of modifying your own questionable behavior? I have gotten out of my car a few times and left it running purposely and yes it beeps. so what? I know how to make it stop.

The car is new to you and you have to get used to doing the tasks that you want done. It's a repetitive task that humans have to adapt to. Sooner or later, you won't be so easily fooled by the simple chimes. Pretty soon, it will become routine for you to reach up and simply turn the **** right before you punch the OFF button. If you can't get this down in about a month or two, for you I would say give it an additional month or two more....then after that you may want to consider getting rid of the car since apparently it's not working out.

this is quite a diplomatic way of saying something else. nice.

Whats wrong with opening the door, then turning off the car?

I do not see what is questionable about that.

there is nothing questionable about that. its repeatedly doing it under the auspices of forgetting and then complaining about a safety device doing its job....

But i have the same questions about the door ding. It's extremly annoying. I would love to turn this beep off. Anyone ever figure this out?

Thanks!

I've also noticed that the buzzer sounds if I open my door with the engine running. Actually, I've noticed the same on any car built since about 1970 or so.

The fix is to either:

a) Close the offending door; or
b) Hit the button that makes the engine stop running before opening said door.

I don't blame Lexus for not taking up their engineers' time finding a legal workaround for this. I'm sure they read this forum from time to time, and many of them almost certainly have the Japanese equivolent of that "built a better idiot" line taped up in their offices.
