I will be going from a 2005 Jeep Wrangler with virtually no options besides exterior ones, to a nice riding sedan. I hope to be happy, but maybe not as happy if I had your C55. That is such a nice ride, when I was test driving a C230, they saw me looking at the C55 sticker and asked if I wanted to take it for a spin. I declined. Ignorance is bliss in this case, better to not know what I won't have.

Smart. Driving a car you necessarily aren't planning to buy might make you impulsive.

i wouldnt be caught dead in the current gen of C class...not that mercs reliability as a whole is down, the C class LEADS the unreliability of the brand closely with the A class...

I drove a C230K loaner once and I have to admit, it was a pretty good drive. It was a brand-new loaner, nary 30 miles on it. Looked good in white. The 230K engine pulled well. The handling was a bit light but still responsive. The ride was not bad either. Interior materials not bad. I know reliability isn't great but I left the car pretty impressed.

That said, I think that while the C230K is a good car, the IS is just better, and it should be. It's newer. It looks better. The interior looks nicer. It has better materials and toys. The steering has better progression. And of course, there's more power. I'd say the IS < C230K on the freeway, or general ride, even.

Get the IS. I just sold my 04 CLK500 to get into a IS350.

(Unless your looking for a status symbol (anything benz except for the p.o.s. class hatch))
