Default Horrible Sound coming from Car

I just took my car for its 5k service, and after i got it back, a horrendous sound comes SOMETIMES when i turn left.

I drove 10 times down the SAME road doing the SAME stuff, and only 5 times turning LEFT i got the sound.

Any ideas? Im suppose to bring it in to get that seat belt thing fixed aswell. I never heard this sound before.

Make sure they didn't rotate your tires!!! Your back wheels are larger and they might be rubbing on the front. They tried that with mine when I went in for service.

the sound comes from the front, not the back.

it sounds like its coming from the front axle, i thought maybe they put a part or somthing got replaced but the print out for what they did said nothing about that.

how would rotating the tires effect this situation?

And it sounds mechanical not like a bad part.

Your back tires are about 2 inches wider than the front tires, if Lexus was to rotate your rear tires forward, the tires you now have up front would be rubbing.

All but the AWD model have a staggered setup with wider tires in the rear. If the dealer rotates the tires, the wider tires will be in the front, where they are too wide, and can rub on sharp turns or bumps.

Why not go take a look at your tires and check the size. The first number in the tire size is the width. Let us know what you find.

Bring it back to the dealer and complain. I'd talk to the service manager and ask for something in compensation for having to bring it back -- at the very least a free tank of gas.

Also check carefully to make sure the tires weren't damaged by rubbing. If they were, you'd obviously be entitled to free replacements.

On my car, 225/40-18 front and 255/40-18 rear.

On cars with 17" wheels, I believe it's 225/45-17 front and 245/45-17 rear.

Glad you got the problem fixed. Can you post the pictures of the damage?

When it comes to getting compensation for their mistake, I think it would have been better to bring the car back to the dealer with the tires on wrong, rather than having your friend fix it.

So how are you supposed to rorate the tires. And does this tire width not apply on 250 AWD and thus you can rotate your tires the standard way?

I believe AWDs have the same size tires for both front and rear, so you can rotate. If you have a staggered setup, then you won't be able to do so.

The only way to rotate these tires is to take them off of the wheel and rotate them left and right. It's better than nothing but you have to ask yourself if it's worth the effort.
