Its pretty annoying and embarassing too. It makes me think "is the power so anemic
Yesterday i come up on a stop light and a first Gen IS300 gave me a thumbs up and ask if it was fast? I said, it had a decent power.

He wanted to go for it up to the next stop light, I said ok. I switch on ECT Pwr but left it in auto.
I got up to 60 mph and i just slow down because he was 3 Car length ahead.

He gave me the and i So yeah i think its a little anemic.

Oh well...... at least our car is Gorgeous as Hell i just wont try again

Its got nothing to do with the 250 being anemic, it has to do with the fact that it weighs about 200 pounds more than the 1st gen IS (assuming yours is RWD. It's going to be even worse if you have AWD... 400 pounds worse ):

IS300:
Curb Weight: 3255 lbs.

IS250 (auto):
Curb Weight: 3435 lbs.

IS250 AWD:
Curb Weight: 3651 lbs.

200lbs can be quite significant. In addition to that, the IS300 has about 30 ft/lb more torque that comes on a full 1000 rpm's sooner than the IS250. So you have a car that is 200 lb heavier that has 30 ft/lb less toreque and get's its max torque 1k rpm's higher racing up a hill... The IS300 will get you every time without trouble in that situation.

Exactly, the shifting has a lot to do with the gear ratio, espicially in a 6 speed tranny. It finds the best gear for the right amount of speed/torque (going uphill) required.
