RPM = Redline

Ya for the RPM I know its at redline but is there a way we can make rev the engine high enough to make that red ring come on? From what I thought... since the IS has automatic transmissions it wont let the car rev to red line... the auto tranny will change gears before "allowing" the red ring to come on.
Are we able to set manual mode in 2rd and just bouce off the rev limiter or will it go up to 3rd automatically even in Manual mode? I know BMWs will upshift even in manual mode if you get close to the red line... it wont even hit it at all.

I saw it a couple of times. Pretty nice. It doesn't mean you'll blow your engine by any means anyway. There is still a rev limit.
Just consider it the "danger zone" to shift.

didnt you JUST get your car?? and your already redlining it.
so much for the no redline until 1000miles guideline

You can set it to 2nd gear on sport mode and bounce the limiter if you desire, it won't shift.

I figured the car would always keep itself from hitting the red warning ring while in full auto but I was wrong. Today I had the ECT PWR on and the transmission was in full auto mode...I floored it from a stop and I believe it was during the 2-3 shift the RPMs went high enough that the red ring lit up. Not exactly thrilled about that...anyone else see this before?
Some idiot in a Tundra thought they could beat me and was trying to run me off the road that was going to merge!

That is a nice altrusitic mindset!!!
Hope your recovery is fast, anything with the ankle is very pianful.
You should be fine, but would not make a habit of hitting the rev limiter too often, you don't want to damage valves or valve seats.
