IMO it doesn't look good. Remember those curly pigtail cellular antennas people use to stick on their rear windshield....it reminds me of that.

Looks sporty. I like it very much. It's for the IS, so the fit is custom. I don't see how it looks out of place.

You gotta love human nature. I'll bet you if the car came standard with the antenna from the factory, everyone would be saying how nicely it complements the car...

If my IS had the antenna standard as a FUNCTIONAL item I wouldn't complain one bit...adding a gutted antenna for cosmetic reasons is another story altogether.

I made fun of the idiots in high school who put fake cell phone antennas in the MIDDLE of their rear windows too. Call me old fashioned-

Wow, that's logic. So it only looks good on BMWs, or only looks good on German cars, or only good on cars located IN Germany (originated). You statement is ambiguous.

FYI, the IS has the fin in Japan.

I think he means that it looks good on Chris Bangle designed BMWs, which already have so many funky styling cues that the fin is hardly even noticed.

Nobody knows. Factory XM is coming in 2007, but we don't know for what models. Right now it's just the LS. The IS, and all other Lexus models for that matter, may also get the option in 2007 or maybe not until 2008. And even if factory XM is offered on the IS, it has just been assumed the sharkfin (used in Japan) will also be on the cars. But that is pure speculation at this point as well.

I am really surprised the 2007 ES 350 and GS 450h do not offer factory XM. I guess Lexus wants the new LS to be the first car in the lineup to have it.

As an aside, I know Infiniti will have a sharkfin on their redesigned 2007 G35. But I saw a new 2006 G35 that also had the sharkfin.

 

Well, let me rephrase. Putting a non-functional piece of plastic on the roof of your Lexus says only one thing to people: "I guess he wanted a BMW but couldn't afford it so he wants his to look like one."
Don't get me wrong, I'm all for mods and have spent quite a bit on my cars and truck before. I just never tried to make mine look like another brand's. Hope that makes sense.

 

Lexus is finally going to offer factory-installed XM Satellite Radio?! The 2007 GS line-up better get it.
