Yeah, that rebased ballast thing kinda has me worried too. I've heard of some people having trouble properly seating the lights -- could it be because they were rebased? Don't want it to lead to condensation problems either.
I like the xenon depot kit, though I have two concerns -- first, I'd have to choose either 4300k or 6000K -- nothing in between. I think the 6000K might be TOO blue (cops) and I thing the 4300K are slightly yellow (can anyone with the 4300K installed confirm?).
The other concern (dislike) is that being that XenonDepot is in Toronto, Canada (as am I) I'd have to not only pay shipping but also 15% TAX!! So they'll end up running me over $600

I have MTEC 4500s. If you look at the headlights, it will look a littley blue. but it shines white.
I had randombrand 6500K in my 3000GT and I got pulled over. The light was blue, with a purple tine at the edge of the light. I did not think that my lights were soo blue, but whatever.
Overall, I like the Mtec 4500Ks. They are much brighter. Although, the edge of the light has a greenish tint =(

No problems that I can remember. If you are going to buy HIDs, I would suggest buying HIDs with the igniter built in the ballast.
There is just not enough space on the drivers side. Also with that guy on ebay selling the MTECs, if there is an Or Best offer, use it. I offered him like $30 less than the Buy it now, and he accepted..... makes me wonder how much lower he would have went.

what about being able to connect the Mtecs directly to the battery? All of people with aftermarket HIDs on this forum suggest to install them this was so as not to fry the stock harness.
Is the Mtec kit installed this way? with relays, etc?

Maybe I need to get a lower colour temp... anybody know the official MTEC website address?

It is a Taiwan company, and I just met their sales this afternoon.

I think I'd definitely buy a set of the Xenon Depot HID's, but not for $350. If they were priced at around $300, for sure. That's not to take anything away from Xenon Depot... they seem to be a great kit. It's just not as competitive price-wise with a lot of the other kits like MTEC.

Stock Bulb i believe is arround 55watts. HID Runs at 35Watts. It will not burn your wires.
I'm Getting my Hid this weekend From the same company i've delt with.
Mtec/phillps
HID is HID! if you put them in the same car you will not be able to tell which is which.
As long as you get a warranty from the vendor it will be fine
I have ran HID from my other Cars for 2 years directly to stock wire and never had a single problem.
( Wiring Harness )
You will need to run a harness to connect an Hid If the ballast and Ignitor is separate
Because it needs more juice to light it up.
The new kits now dont need a direct harness to go to the battery.
4300k Is Bright white 6000k on projector is light blue. Looks really good and completely useless on rainy nights.
Heres my last car that i did retro projector on the C280.
This car had both mention HID temp on both regular reflector and projector.
best output you can get is 4300k
goodluck

if you're price point is aroun $300 I would go with the Xtreme kit for $285 shipped.
Yes, HIDs operate on 35W however take a look to see how much power they draw upon startup....There is a large inrush current as the filament first heats up. HID Ballasts draw a large amount of current when first powered on as they ignite the arc and heat the salts in the capsule. It is this startup current that could blow fuses or cause damage to underrated wiring.
The can draw approx 17A upon startup..
