Question The True Cost of Owning an IS250/350

So yeah... Figure this we think that owning a new IS250/350 would be like $29,000 - $40,000, however seeing it as a 5 year investment how much do you think it would cost you having the car...

IS250 Manual

IS250 Auto

IS250 Auto AWD

IS250 Manual versus Similar class

IS350 Auto

IS350 Auto versus Similar class

If anybody wants to check out their car, you can go to:

For <2005
http://www.edmunds.com/apps/usedmatrix/UsedMatrix

For >2006
http://www.edmunds.com/new/index.html

However, I think it is only available for vehicles 2002 & up, because it is a 5 year setup calculation of your vehicle.

I really anticipate that the true cost to own will be a little less. In 5 years, I do not think you will find an 06 IS250 for 12K. Just look at the current IS 300. The 01s are still more than that.

Haha... numbers can prove anything. Have they factored in all the $$ its cost BMW and Mercede's owners to chase down electrical gremlins out of warranty... ... but seriously, my buddy just brought his BMW in for work, 70k on the clock and $3k later......

To tqlla3k's point, I doubt anything other than a "stripper" IS250 will even come close to that resale in 5 years... but I guess only time will tell.

All I know is would feel much more comfortable depending on a Lexus than I would a BMW or Benz.

if you look at autotrader the current is 300's are still going for 18-25 on a 01-03 is 300.. IMO even with high mileage they still hold there value more than other cars..

strange that the 250 has a significantly higher operating cost than the 350

in most cases the more expensive your car is when new the more it will drop in value,
but I'm sure it's still much cheaper than taking a cab everyday!

All these cars are about the same. They are all right around $20K over cash value after 5 years. So it really doesn't matter except we all know that BMW's and Mercedes have more issues in reliabiliy than Lexus.

And to the person that said he should have bought the TL, why? You are just looking at the "cost to own" price being $5-6K cheaper after 5 years, but you have to acknowledge that the price to buy a TL is $5K cheaper to start with. Therefore the "price to own" is just about a wash.

Haha we're so defensive of our cars.

Actually I don't even own one right now. Just pointing out some points that seemed to be overlooked.

sad: gas costs are slated to eclipse both insurance and maintenance costs per year
