(OK bad question- We would all prefer to have the Enzo anytime but it is a hypothetical question ).

Now the fun factor being better with the IS 350 is not debatable of course.
AWD only helps you when you are accelerating. In heavy snow, will you be accelerating around corners? Probably not. In that case, AWD does not help you at all. It will help you accelerate up a hill, and help you start faster on a patch of ice, but remember, if you are braking or just coasting, AWD can't do much for you.

This is where Lexus really dropped the ball in not offering a 350 AWD. I just don't see the logic behind that move. As much as I love my IS350, if I were in a situation like yours I would simply look at other options such as getting an M35x or waiting for the 2007 G35x Sedan, the currend G35 sedans are simply too ugly IMO. Or wait for the GS350 AWD.

I chose the IS250 AWD over the 350 due to the AWD. Although AWD won't help you stop, its nesc. if you want to GO, and thats my big concern in a snowstorm. I drive slowly and cautiously in the snow enough not to slide, but I damn well make sure I dont goto fast into a skidding situation.

OT but my 2002 Grand AM was the BEST CAR in the snow and it was FWD...

I agonized over the same thing, I wanted awd but I also wanted the 350. I live in Vancouver where it usually snows minimally and there may be only 2 days a year that the snow actually builds up enough that summer tires won't do. I wanted my dealer to put all seasons on instead of summer perf. tires but because I got the luxury pack with nav. the car only came with the summer tires and they wouldn't swap tires unless I paid another $500. So after thinking it over I decided to get the 350, keep the summer tires until either they wear out, which apparently doesn't take long, or replace them with all seasons as soon as necessary. I'm hoping I won't have to put snow tires on. Anybody else have experiences in light snow with all seasons?

But once I put some snow chains (z-cables) on the back tires, the car handled almost like it was on dry except for the annoying snow chain noise and the longer brake distances. I could go up the hill without any problems. If you live in NH, I say go with the 350, but use snow tires in the winter time and carry a set of chains in the trunk just in case. The difference is night and day when a set of chains are on.
Where did you get your chains? What brand/type? I was wondering if there were any that fit 18" alloys that didn't cost an arm and a leg.

Came from a V6 AWD Toyota Highlander to an IS350,...I know crazy Don't think about driving in snow with the stock summer rubber, it doesn't work. I purchased a set of winter wheels and tires from Tirerack and it was surprisingly driveable everyday,...especially in fresh snow. Depending on your driving style normal mode may work better than snow mode.
