since i have a manual i usually keep it on outside temperature. but after i fill up the tank i like to keep it on tank avg mpg and see how high i can get my mpg. the highest i got it up to was 30.5mpg... granted the manual is rated at 29mpg highway.

I usually flip between outside temperature (a Florida necessity just so I know exactly how hot it is outside!) and gear position since I love having the gear information available.

Haha you sound exactly like me, but mine is usually on current mpg/gear position.

And when you drive on LA freeways, it's not a bad idea to know instantly how fast you are going when that CHP jumps in your rear view mirror.
Wouldn't a Heads Up Display be an awesome option?

One of the buttons on the right side of the steering wheel. My "delivery consultant" spent about 45 minutes going over details like this when I picked up my car.

Usually on Outside Temp, All other times it's in Gear Position. Sometimes I check how much miles I have left on the tank.

I just change the display for what I need it for at the moment.
When it's baking..."temp mode" or just push "climate" on your navi
when long travels..."miles left" and "mpg" (not the scrolling bar...yes, useless)
when in "S" mode, yes leave it in gears (especially when passing, I've downshifted too far a couple of times because I didn't know what gear I was in

i actually leave it in gear position since when i switch to manumatic, it won't tell me that i'm back into first until i shift back down myself which sucks... i used to leave it in outside temp, but in Climate section of the screen, it already tells me the outside temp so no need for two places telling me the outside temp

NO ****! I can't believe they left that off! The analog guages on this car are so different from what I'm used to, so I never know how fast I'm going!

Ya me too!!! I bet you they'll add it for 2007 or somthing... maybe 2008 models. Its just an easy thing to add and i can believe they didnt add it. A lot of cars have it now. Honestly its really simple... prob takes like 1 line of code. the car already reads a digital speed into the ECU they just needed to out put it.

And a temp prob should not read wind temp. Wind chill is only for humans or living creatures... that can feel the difference. a temerature guage doesnt care what the wind chill is.
The person you responded to did not mention wind chill, just air / wind TEMP. Wind chill has nothing to do with the car's temp sensor.
