air conditioning problems

Yea... For those who arent happy with the A/C, you should bring it in to get checked out. I heard if you dont use it often, it can sometimes do that.
I usually have mine set to 72 or 74 and it gets cold in the car, within the first few minutes of driving!
I live in California, so I usually have the A/C on since the weather around me is pretty moist. Plus I have hardcore allergies so I hate having outside air come in.

Sorry to hear about your problems Ken.
A trip to the dealer is definately in the works IMO.
My auto climate control works fine, in fact, I think it blows too cold most of the time. I have it set at 75 now. Compared to my old car it was always 70-71.

I agree that the A/C system in the IS is weak...Today it was about 85 in So Cal and I had the A/C blowing full blast at 67 degrees and it took a while before I felt cool enough to lower the speed. In my old car ('03 Honda Accord), the A/C was very responsive and got cold almost immediately.

In Dallas we have experienced temperatures in the upper 90s and the AC works great. My Huber Optik tint probably helps some but the air from the AC is cold enough to cool the cabin down quickly even when my outside temperature indicator hit 103.

I live in Miami florida were we have 90 degrees 360 days a year.... (man I love those 5 days at 65!) no problems here. Cabin air starts to feel cool after 3 minutes at noon. I keep the temp at 70.

Sounds like us Floridians are getting cars with good airconditioning. Mine is on constantly. Even after sitting out in the sun nine hours during the day when I get in, within minutes, it is cool. Usually below 74 it is too cold. Usually keep it on Medium all the time, and High just to get it going after sitting in the sun all day. Everyone whose isn't getting cool should get it checked out sooner rather than later.

I'm in Austin and I've been happy with the car. I don't have a heat shield yet but I've noticed that even without it the car seems not to get as hot as my old car - I do have a dark tint and the power rear sunshade.
I was frustrated with the a/c at first because if the outside temp was near the inside temp, the a/c wouldn't blow cold air - and I'm used to a/c with a switch (and a temp control but in TX that's always left to "cold"). Lowering the desired temp does the trick as does switching it off Auto and controlling through the buttons on the nav (but I haven't done that piece).
I have the air-conditioned seats also and I put those on high. The car feels cool to me pretty quickly and it sits outside all day in uncovered parking.
So if you're in TX and considering this car don't forget about the air-conditioned seats (technically they're "ventilated" but it feels cool to me) and the power rear sunshade. Both make a difference.

I would suggest a windshield sunscreen and a slight crack of the windows if you are going to park anywhere uncovered for some time. The internal heat difference b/t using those and not using those is huge, would help the car cool down faster

The AC in my 250 works fine and I live in Florida, so maybe I'm just used to it. I noticed a thing where my AC starts up in recirculation mode rather thatn in the outside only mode. I heard that running the car in recirc is bad for the car. Is this just the way the car runs or is it a bug?
