All you need to remember is:

2IS PCS/Radar-Assisted Cruise Control = V1 Friendly

Unfortunately this system is tied in conjuntion with all the VDIM's components including your cruise control system. So no it cannot be added as an aftermarket feature.

Here's some background on the Adaptive Radar Cruise system on the New IS. The Pages below are out of the 2006 IS Press Kit that was given to us at our special Test Drive/Preview last August 2005.

No. Probably just as well. There would be some idiots that forgot they turned it off and crash into something by assuming they left it on. I guess you didn't seen the MB S-Class demo, they proceeded to sandwich 3 brand new $120K vehicles because their system failed.

I use my DRCC a few times a week, even when not going freeway speeds. It's a blast, and probably the coolest feature of the IS.

Actually, that little stunt wasn't as originally presented in the video...

I love the option although it was not by any means a "give-away".
how do you have that option!? I tried for so long to get it on my 350 and couldn't manage, he said cars with it wouldn't even be released until july!

One of the cars I test drove had it equipped back in march (possibly sooner). I ordered it without any quesion on part of the dealer for my upcoming car within the same month, which got placed on april 4th. Not being available until July isn't true, at least for this area.

I ordered my car in early Oct., '05. The dealer looked at and me and asked "are you sure you want that option because it is a bit pricey"? I assured him that I definitely did and he wrote the order up exactlyl as I wanted the car built. At the time I didn't think too much of it. 86 days later (14 January, '06) the car came in "as ordered" and I'm a happy guy.

Now, after reading so many horror stories about dealers and how they are treating so many of us CL members I am very grateful to my dealer for the competance that they showed during the order process. I am so sorry for the run-around you got/are getting.

Well, I WAS going to give Lexus Carlsbad a good mark but NOW....
My salesguy INSISTED that the RADAR cruise control was NOT AVAILABLE. I guess he meant not in the cars he had in stock.

I'm going to have words with my salesman and his boss for false representation which is a felony.

Unfortunately, being stupid is not against the law. Nor is being gullible.

top gear followed up on that story and they found out the system wasnt turned on leading to the crash. Clarkson even tested the S500 and it followed a leading car even to a stop (most recent episode)

Eactly my point. People will assume it's ON, even when it is not.
