Default Clear Bra-Paint Fading?

One of my co-workers said he has heard a lot about the clear bra's making the paint look wierd because it seals up half the hood and the other half will wear, whcih makes the paint look uneven after a year or so? Is this true??????? I just spent like $560 on mine and now I'm wondering if I should take it off?

I would be more worried about the bra yellowing/discoloring before the paint. Make sure you wash the clear bra pretty regularly as it is a little porous and can stain (I already have a little stain on mine).

I think if you take good care of the car and keep it waxed then the sun won't fade the paint.

I just talked with my dad from who owns a body shop in Oklahoma City. He is doing the research on this topic right now. I told him about it and he thinks that it could be ok, but he is going to call all of his paint reps on monday and help us with this subject.

How many miles did you have on your's before you put the bra on? I want to do it but my dad also told me I have to take mine to a local body shop to get the little rock chips out that are in the paint already. He has good connections out here in socal also. So the question is, did you have stuff like that done before you put your clear bra on?

I took the clear bra off of the mirrors on my 2000 Audi S4 recently. The clear bra had been on for at least 4 years. Absolutely no difference in the paint. Can't tell that there was ever clear bra on them.

While talking to the dealership, they said that the clear bra material did not stop the UV rays so that if there was any fading of the paint it would happen the same under the bra as normal. Of course this is a salesman, so take it with a grain of salt......

I have a clear bra on my IS 350. I agree with the comment about UV rays. If the bra doesn't reflect UV rays, the paint should fade at an equal rate and not cause any problems. I would not remove the clear bra. I have seen several unprotected IS and they had stone chips with low mileage,

I've seen some that have been on since 2001 that were removed in 2005 and no difference in color. Like those that have said already... you ahve to protect your car and take care of it. Wax it and wash it. BOTH the bra and the car paint. Its not really a put it on and never touch it again kinda thing. Take care of it.
