It's stoneguard, or xpel, or clearbra or whatever brand name they used, but it is the equivalent of that type of stuff. It has been used on Porsches for years, it just provides a bit more paint chip protection to high impact areas.

It may also be a cosmetic thing. It probably hides some of the more unsightly edges/crevices between the panels of the car.

Who'll be the first to take it off and look?

No, it's very thick. It's color matched to the body. I've noticed it when waxing the car, and it's not a thin piece of plastic like a clear bra. It's thick like plastic moulding on a motorcycle.

Can anyone verify?

It is some type of clear plastic material to protect the area around the fender area's. Most cars have this protection on them now.

Default I've been wondering about this too

Its pretty small to be some sort of protection (why does such a small are need such extra proection?) and has always seemed pretty weird.

It is very thick..probably 3x the thickness of a clear bra.

Have you seen the thickness of a clear bra for the headlamp? They're abot 20mm thick. Compared to 8mm for standard Clear Bra.

That area sticks out more than anything else at that height where most debries are so Lexus decided to add extra protection.

Go ask a clear bra installer what that is and they'll tell you. Corvett and Porsche owners request that to be installed at that specific place when they get their clear bra done.

Default re plastic on rear bottom doors

I didn't like the plastic either. So I took it to the dealer and all they did was peel it off.
Now the car looks so much cleaner as the plastic really so no purpose and dirt was
being trapped in the plastic.

Default Plastic dent

Hi guys -

Funny, I've been wondering what that was too...and I guess I wasn't the only one.

Anyway...about a week ago, I was walking out of my office and to my car. I of course parked at the far end of the parking lot so no one else would park near me (hate door dings!). Anyway, I was carrying my laptop case (w/ laptop inside) and accidentally bumped that lastic part at the bottom of the drivers side back door. I didn't think anything of it until I got home and noticed it under the garage light. I was pissed!...until I remembered how it happened.

I showed it to my partner and he said it's not that bad, but of course, to me it is.
