There's also a difference between accusing and suspecting.

Okay, I just checked my sticker. It is an exact duplicate of yours Conekiller. Picked up my car 2/24/06.
My copy of the brochure from the dealer in Oct 05 says "Adaptive Front Lighting System (AFS) and High-Intensity Discharge (HID) headlamps with dynamic auto leveling."
My Price/Options List from Lexus.com dated 11/15/05 says "Bi-xenon High-Intensity Discharge (HID) headlamps and Adaptive Front Lighting System (AFS).
So, I don't know what I have either. I'll go try and test the lights on the garage wall.

So we need understand where you are coming from do you feel more like a) you've been cheated or b) Lexus might be misleading customers or c) You're just trying to figure out what you really ended up with or d) you think there might have been some sort of mistake and you got one thing when you really should have rec'd something else.

Well when I turn my brights on a few things happens
1) The low beam (HID's) DOES change
2) The halogen highbeams turn on
3) The fogs turn off
AFIK this IS how bi-xenon works.

i was also wondering the same
any ideas if the canadian IS's are the same?
the inside lights turning on because if you are flashing somebody makes sense because HID"s dont' instantly come on.
fog lights turn off because you cannot have more than 4 lights on at a time by law.
will check if it is really bi xenon, but either way, not much we can do if it is or isn't . .
to be honest, how often do we use high beams anyway

OK here's what I found -
I used heavy black nylon fabric and completely blocked out the halogen high beams with the car approximately 20' from a wall, then turned on the highbeams. Surprise! There *IS* a high beam function built into the low beam HIDs, however it is not uniform. You're all familiar with the flat, razor-sharp cutoff plane low beam HIDs exhibit against a wall...I was expecting the shade mechanism to raise the whole cutoff plane, left all the way to the right, and it does not. Instead the flat cutoff turns into an arc...the extreme left and right ends at the normal low beam height, bulging upward in the middle where the high beam halogens are normally visible. Because of this, if you try the same scenario with the high beam halogens unobstructed, the halogens will completely obliterate the high beam HID cutoff that you'll see if the halogens are obstructed/unplugged. You simply cannot see the bi-xenon function with the halogen high beams in the way.
ALL THAT SAID, I'm still confused as to why Lexus specifically uses the name "Bi-xenon High-Intensity Discharge (HID) headlamps" all over their website but has nary a mention of it anywhere on the window sticker feature list or anywhere (that I can find) in all the literature that came with the car.
