If I were to use a bra for long trips, I would cover the painted surface with 2" painters tape before putting the bra on. That would make sure that the bra didn't leave abrasions from wind.

The most important thing to remember w/a bra is to ALWAYS remove it after it rains. Cloudy paint sucks.

yea, kibbles beat me! totally could give some spy car impressions. perhaps applying some of that white silicon tape (pluming tape) to the areas that "rub" the paint may help reduce any burnishing?

Im not really into the mask/bra thing either, but they are definitely an ideal choice for long trips.

it took about three weeks to get it - you can find it here

http://www.colgancustom.com/shop_vparts.php

it came in a box for a Hyundai Elantra - with no instructions whatsoever. At first I thought I had the wrong bra...but after unpacking and laying it out in the sun before putting it on - it fit great. I've used it twice now and it has not left one mark on the car - would highly recommend it for long trips!! Good luck

I think you mean teflon tape, which isn't really even tape. Painter's tape would be ideal since it doesn't leave any glue residue behind. People use painter's tape all the time to protect their paint from rock chips when tracking or autocrossing.

not a bad idea for long road trips! plus, your car is black so there isn't that much of a contrast. on a white car like mine, it would really stand out...

Thanks for posting with pics, been waiting for colgan to get these in stock again. Just ordered mine today. I need this for the 6 hour drive back home for the holidays. The bra will only be used for this trip that I take around the holidays. No more rock chips!!

Default Bra

Lets try something. Take before pictures of the paint, make sure it clean and waxed. Then in a couple of months post new pictures. Make them close up and off angle. I think the Bra looks good however from the past I'll never do that again. Micro Abrasion left the paint dull. Remember the paint on this car (Lexus) is water base very soft, swirls and micro scracthes are easy to create.
Make sure to remove if not on long trips, washing or rain. Keep the parts covered by bra waxed and make sure its tight check often.
Good Luck

If the paint is protected by tape while the bra is on during the "long trip", then there wouldn't be any worry about anything.

I have been using Bras on both our Lexus, my wife's GX470, the 2003 SC430 I had before I traded it for a 2007 IS350, being in Florida with the lovebugs which can really screw up a car's paint, the Bra is the best thing in the world. But need to correct you guys on something, in the 5 plus years we have used the Bra never and I said never had a problem with them damaging the paint. I wash the cars once a week and take the Bra off and clean the underside, then make sure the car is completely dry before putting it back on. The paint under the Bra still looks brand new, no scratches, no swirl marks. If you take care of it the way it is supposed to be taken care of, you will not have any paint problems.
