Default Got my DICE iPod integration kit... now with pictures! 56k warning

Well the UPS guy dropped off my iPod integration kit from DICE this afternoon. Looks like a nice setup. I will post some pictures when I get home (stuck at work...) Hopefully I can get it installed tonight and see if it works...

Wish me luck.

Since it's supposed to be line-level input, the only limitation on sound quality should be your file rip quality.

I'm not ready to yank the NAV out so I'll sit on the sideline for now...whenever I do buy an ipod integration kit I'll do the NAV hack at the same time.

Do you know if the plugs match those that are on the nav? or will we need to do further cutting to make it work? Thx, look forward to the install pics!

please be sure to make special note of the connections to the radio and take good pics if you can. if this works well, dice is in for about a dozen or more orders, i'd say.

Default What you get for $170

Ok. Finally got home from work (love those 12hr days). I really don't feel like pulling the radio out tonight, so I snapped a picture of what is in the box.

The loot

Inside the control module

Observations so far...

The wiring harness' seem to be of good quality, nothing loose, cracked, etc. and the wires and connectors seem to be of the same quality as the OEM.

The iPod connector fits snugly into the port at the bottom of the iPod and will not come loose until you press the sides to remove it. The cord for the connector is 4' long, so you should have some options on where to put your ipod.

The internals of the control module look well laid out. Certainly not some guy in his basement soldering circuit boards. Hopefully everything will work as advertised.

I have already done the NAV hack, so I am not worried about pulling the system out.

Rest assured, I will take as many pictures as I can when I rip into it.

What does it mean on the Dice website where a footnote mentions possible compatibility issues with IS250/IS350 cars that have Nav and the 6 disc in-dash CD changer?

I spoke to a lady at dice and she said that on some cars with the nav/changer the sound quality produced was not up to DICE's expectations. She said it is not all nav/changer cars and they are working on a fix for the affected cars. I will find out tonight if I am one of the affected cars.
