According to www.porsche.com a 2006 Carrera S does 0-60 in 4.6 exactly with a 355hp 6 cyl rear wheel drive.
According to www.bmwusa.com a 2006 M5 does it in 4.5.

can we assume 5ltrs. displacement from the model designation or might it be 4.6 or even only 4.3 but still called 500?

Hmmm I wonder how much truth is to the statement Hmmm choices to make, either wait for a possible(not confirmed) IS500/350 coupe version, or get a Tacoma double cab TRD package I've been having my eye on

evo has a lot of turbo lag also, takes a while for a 4 cyl to produce exhaust flow to power that large turbo, hopefully later the evo and STi will get upgraded to a variable geometry turbo which basically gets rid of nearly all lag

On a recent airline flight I sat next to a guy who worked for Toyota at their US headquarters. As soon as he found out I was a car nut, we talked a lot about high performance cars. He was really excited about next year's NASCAR debut and how that was going to change Toyota's image with auto enthusiasts. I mentioned that I owned a Lexus, and he said that they had changed the marketing target for Lexus from Mercedes to BMW and would be moving in the sport direction instead of just luxury. When I asked about the 5 liter engine for the LS600h, he said that it would be a limited production high tech engine for special applications. The 600h will not be just a 460L with hybrid power added, but will have this 5 liter engine for its ICE to assure that it would match the other luxury makes best big sedan performance.
The engine will also go into the IS as a special model to market against the M3 and maybe into the GS to market against the M5. I infered from his comments that these are going to be high $ versions of the production cars much like AMG and M series cars. I asked about a new Supra and he would not discuss it so my guess is that is real also. Horsepower from the 5 liter - all he would say was "as much as we need".
The guy seem real so I have no reason to believe it was just BS. As much as we need could easily be 400hp from the 5 liter for the IS500 to match the performance of the much lighter M3.
The next couple of years should be fun for Lexus.

I understand the enthusiasm here (Lexus board after all) but it will be interesting to see how the market is going to respond to a $60,000+ "entry level" luxury car. A nice V-8 is all well and good but unless we see some serious weight loss via exotic materials (which I seriously doubt will happen), personally, I fail to see what justifies this lofty price tag when a GS430 starts at $52K and change.
Just remember the IS430 prototypes and incipient TRD supercharger from the first generation car...scepticism is certainly more than justified here.
Methinks your barking up the wrong tree here Bichon. From www.mitsubishicars.com website:
2006 Lancer Evolution MR
MSRP* $ 36,299
You can get AN evo for less that $30K, the stripper RS, but they won't sell you the MR for that price.
