Cool Anyone Turned Car Off While Driving???

I was stopped at a traffic light tonight and was leaving a phone message through the bluetooth/Nav and instead of pushing the disconnect on the screen after I was done talking I pushed the start/stop button and turned the car off It took me a few seconds to figure out what I did and put the car in park and restart.

It got me wondering if anyone else has pushed the start/stop button by mistake.

I've noticed a few times I've come close to pushing it when trying to find the PWR switch to press.

Would the car have shut off if I was moving when I pushed the button?

it says in the manual that the car won't stop if you push the button while it is moving. However, in case of emergency, to turn off the car while moving... you just push and hold the start button until the fail safe kicks in and turns off the car.

im too scared to push it while im driving. wouldnt wanna mess anything up if it did turn off or something.

I read also in the manual that the car would not stop if you pushed it while moving, so I was stopped at a traffic light the first time I showed my girlfriend the car and she asked me if anything would happen if she pushed it, and I said nah of course not, it said in the manual it wouldn't! So she pushed it... And my car stopped.

So if you're breaking slowly from 100mph and you push the button it'll stop? I would think it has a speed sensor built in. and you can only stop it using a fail safe porcedure like holding it.

Default I did this a while ago...

I think I posted a thread about it, in any case here's what I did. In fact it was out of necessity. I was on a long trip, on a highway, I wanted to reinitialize my bluetooth without pulling over (I know a pretty extreme way of doing this) (and I know there are alternate ways of reinitializing, but this sounded exciting at the time) So i was driving (about 75mph) I held the start/stop in neutral, the car shut off....in order to restart while still coasting at about 70mph, the car you must lightly have your foot on the brake while in neutral, and push the start/stop, the car restarts, put it back in drive and carry on....

you may be able to shut off the car while in motion, by pressing on the PWR button for a number of seconds, just like force-shutdown of your PC

This is not true. I was going 65 mph on a freeway and curious what would happen if I pushed the start/stop button. I pushed it without stepping on the brakes first. Nothing happened. Then I stepped on the brakes and pushed it again. Nothing happened.

press and hold.

is nobody reading the posts that come before theirs?

the car only acts a certain way. there can't be all these iterations of what happened and what didn't. either it does or it doesn't LOL.
