What amp do you have? If you have a JL slash series, they have an option to either have a remote wire or they have signal sensing. I had the 500/1 before and didn't use a remote wire and it would takes a few seconds for the sub to kick. But you can turn that option off and have a remote wire.

 

I actually found out I was right, it's the ML causing it to take a little bit to kick in. I'm using a Kicker 750.1 not sure what it is exactly LOL. My brother chose it for me.

Can anyone tell me if i overpayed?

I got all this installed on my '09 IS 350

-Alusonic Alumapro 12" Sub (Enclosed)
-ZX550.2 AMP
- Matrix 12.5X Alaram
- Base control **** on my dash

All installed with top of the line wiring. and tuned. Installation took 4 hours.

I got everything for 1 G out the door.

Ill post pics soon. Everything works and sounds great. Ive never had a sound system before, and i was wondering if i did ok or not.

 

That's not too bad. Judging by the price I would've gotten a more known brand.

Dilemma - I have a 12W7 with a 500/1 JL Amp, I hate how I have to listen to the radio at -6 to -4 bass just to be able to hear voices but I hate how the voice sounds like **** when somebody talks, I like the sound bass level at around 4 but I hate the nasty *** bass the sub puts out. I'm a speaker noob, help me out! Should I downgrade?

 

From what I know Peter, JL stuff is made to knock down walls LOL so your bass is going to be heavy right off the bat. And someone correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't that amp underpowering your sub?

 

For sure its under powering my sub lol. I got the sub from a trade and the amp was laying around my boys house. I pretty much threw together my setup lol.
