Glad I found this thread. Still debating on what to do. I sent you a PM to get some ideas CM. BTW this is my setup, very nostalgic old school. I had a similar setup in my old Accord but Hurricane Katrina destroyed it. It was the best setup Ive heard. So I decided to remake it for the Lexus. 1 PPI Pro piston 12 "pro series" very rare, a404.2 PPI art, a600.2 PPI art, PPI Par 245, rare German made Micro Precision components in front and PPI studio drivers in rear.

[QUOTE=ItalianLex;2218659]how does that sound??? That set up is nice. Also do you have the ML or regular audio package?

I have the ML without the NAV. They don't offer Nav as an option here in Guam. The subs makes a huge difference in the quality of the bass but need to turn off the auto sound control in the ML because it affects the Subs.

Default I went with fiberglass

Audiobahn 12” AWP312T sub 1200RMS
Audiobahn 600x2 RMS at 2ohms Amp
Pwr Acoustik PC.5C 5 farad capacitor
Stock deck (w/ nav)

I mounted the amp and capacitor vertically against the back seat. I still need to cover them, probably with carpeted plywood with a hole to allow access through the trunk-to-cabin access door. Tapped into factory sub wires with a line output converter (at output connector on factory amp). Made my sub box out of fiberglass (hard work but worth it). Tapped into factory amp connector for aftermarket amp turn-on wire, but I would like to know which wire on the deck I can use for amp turn-on. Somebody please let me know!!!

Cmusic,

Why did you reinstall the OEM deck? When you have the Alpine F1 deck, why did you have the OEM deck in the glove box? Is it a operational issue with other features in the car?

The factory deck and the A/C are on the same electrical circuit. Remove the factory deck and the A/C stops working. That's why I move the deck to the glovebox.

I removed the 7990 because it did not cosmetically blend with the dash. I've re-installed the factory deck and I am now running an Alpine Vehicle Hub Pro VPA-B222 as a master audio/video system controller. The factory deck, my DVD changer, and my Ipod are ran into the Hub.

Where do you guys run the remote wire to so that the aftermarket amp could turn on and off when the stereo is on and off??? Because i trying to figure that out. I want to install my sub to the stock headunit because it seem a little to much to change the headunit out.

I have mine running through the drivers side all the way to under the dashboard where the hood opener is. The side dorr plastics come off with a little force and the clips back on. You will need to remove the back seats the run the wire from the amp to the front. I think you need a 8 or 10 mm to take out the seats. then you just unclip them. Should take you about 10 mins to do.

There is a wire in the rear seat area, driver's side that can supply turn-on voltage... No need to go all the way to the front of the car for turn-on unless you are getting your power from there... But I got my power from the battery, running an 8-gauge along the passenger side...

So there no other way where i can tap it off the stock amp located in the trunk Because i know i have to run the power wire along the pass. side. But i just need to know how the aftermarket would turn on and off. I never put a system in to a stock headunit before.

yeah I would like to know too they ended up wiring mine to the cigarette lighter tap. There has got to be a better way. They said there is something where they can't wire it the back.

I just bought a JL 10w7 in a JL H.O. enclosure powered by a JL 500/1. Got it all at cost from a buddy of mine.

Unfortunately the H.O. enclosure is 32" in width, making it 1" too wide to clear the wheel wells in our trunk. I'm taking it in tomorrow to have the box modified.
