A few comments/observations:
1. When the 3.2 was introduced, it 'only' put out about 240 bhp. It's only been 5 or 6 years since it's power was bumped up to it's current level of 333 bhp and that was pre the new SAE standards.
2. Many stock m3's dyno in the 260's to just over 270 at the wheels. There are several forum members that are dynoing in the mid 260's IIRC. I think someone is over 270. Sure, Lexus apparently needs and additional .3 liters of displacement to do it but the M's 3.2 is a low production, very sophisticated (6 individual throttle bodies) engine that requires much more human hands-on involvement, which is clearly reflected in it's price.
So, it looks like we have a great 3.5 liter engine capable of putting us a few tenths behind the M3 0-60 and in the 1/4 despite a ~200 lb weight penalty and it costs $15 to $20K less than a similarly equipped M3.
Instead of this,
I give lexus a big ![Thumb Up](https://www.clublexus.com/forums/images/smilies/thumbsup.gif)

The US spec 3.2's started out with 240 bhp and was then re-tuned to 333 bhp exactly as described in my post.
If we were in Europe driving euro spec cars then you are correct. The euro spec e36 3.2 M3 did put out 321 bhp (pre sae standards.)
I guess the next time I talk about a car's power, I'll include what the power ratings are in Europe, Australia, China, etc.

Wow, that's awesome. Way to compare performance #'s from a car with a twin turbo and an ECU reflash to a stock NA car, BMW fanboi. I love BMW's, they're great cars. It's people like you that give BMW owners a bad rep. If you want to bash Lexus, go do it on a Bimmer forum, not in a thread with the intention of improving the performance of a Lexus IS350.

[QUOTE=caymandive;2308188]I've gone up against both manual and SMG E46 M3's and haven't lost to them yet. My most recent E46 M3 run is below. He got a jump on me at the start and took the technical win, but his time and mph were slower. The torque of the IS350 is what wins the race here since hp is so close in both cars.QUOTE]
Nice run.

Anyhow on a celica stock turbo at 8psi pushes quarter mile round 15.2 to 15.7
with about 3k you can get it in flat 13 seconds... turbo will always have advantage on mods over NA....

BMW makes a great car but the fact is the IS350 is also a great performing car. IF all I cared about were drag times then I would go out and purchase a new GT500 mustang and modify it to run mid 11's all day long without a nos kit. The IS350 and the 335i series are luxury cars with sport capabilities. Both the BMW and the IS engine comes in on the 10 best engines list and that fact of that is the IS is a high power V6 engine (along with the G35 engine) that can get you great acceleration and 1/4 mile times without the use of a turbo...or a pair of them...made by mitsubishi...guess the german ones were not as good as the Japanese ones...anyway...
