2. Many stock m3's dyno in the 260's to just over 270 at the wheels. There are several forum members that are dynoing in the mid 260's IIRC. I think someone is over 270. Sure, Lexus apparently needs and additional .3 liters of displacement to do it but the M's 3.2 is a low production, very sophisticated (6 individual throttle bodies) engine that requires much more human hands-on involvement, which is clearly reflected in it's price.

So, it looks like we have a great 3.5 liter engine capable of putting us a few tenths behind the M3 0-60 and in the 1/4 despite a ~200 lb weight penalty and it costs $15 to $20K less than a similarly equipped M3.

Instead of this, I give lexus a big
I know dyno numbers are rather subjective, but mine dyno'ed 277 whp on a DynoJet with just intake mods. For comparison, there were several G35 and 350Zs in their computer that all dyno'ed in the high 220s and low 230s.

Nice was the 277 SAE corrected with a smoothing of 5?

Combfilter yeah Google or youtube should work fine. Looking forward to seeing that video.

Since you asked, I pulled it up in WinPEP. With SAE correction and smoothing = 5, peak numbers are 274.88 rwhp and 248.77 ft-lbs. If I view uncorrected numbers without smoothing the numbers go above 280, so I don't know what settings were used for my printouts...

That is really good. I'm assuming that piggy back of yours has given you about 10+hp

I did get the facts right. We are in the US, aren't we? We're talking about the US spec IS350, and the US Spec m3 correct?

The US spec 3.2's started out with 240 bhp and was then re-tuned to 333 bhp exactly as described in my post.

If we were in Europe driving euro spec cars then you are correct. The euro spec e36 3.2 M3 did put out 321 bhp (pre sae standards.)

I guess the next time I talk about a car's power, I'll include what the power ratings are in Europe, Australia, China, etc. LOL! Will that satisfy your 'getting the facts straight' requirement?

Wow, that's awesome. Way to compare performance #'s from a car with a twin turbo and an ECU reflash to a stock NA car, BMW fanboi. I love BMW's, they're great cars. It's people like you that give BMW owners a bad rep. If you want to bash Lexus, go do it on a Bimmer forum, not in a thread with the intention of improving the performance of a Lexus IS350.

[QUOTE=caymandive;2308188]I've gone up against both manual and SMG E46 M3's and haven't lost to them yet. My most recent E46 M3 run is below. He got a jump on me at the start and took the technical win, but his time and mph were slower. The torque of the IS350 is what wins the race here since hp is so close in both cars.QUOTE]

Nice run.

Hopefully those ECU upgrades will not lead to any types of warranty issues.

Javier, this guy is obviously a troll. We should give him his due and just plain ignore him.

it's obvious that on a turbo car you can get lots of power... btw i think it's 3k since it's ecu and exhaust upgrade. i think the 1300 is just the ecu.

Anyhow on a celica stock turbo at 8psi pushes quarter mile round 15.2 to 15.7

with about 3k you can get it in flat 13 seconds... turbo will always have advantage on mods over NA....

I was referring to cars in the same CLASS that are available for sale right now off the factory floor. If you want to go that route I would put my old 73 torino (I still miss her ) at the drags against any of these cars any day of the week and beat the pants off of them...including an M3 or M5 BMW. The "M" series is a high performance series, like AMG, and you pay through the nose for those types of cars because of limited availibility.

BMW makes a great car but the fact is the IS350 is also a great performing car. IF all I cared about were drag times then I would go out and purchase a new GT500 mustang and modify it to run mid 11's all day long without a nos kit. The IS350 and the 335i series are luxury cars with sport capabilities. Both the BMW and the IS engine comes in on the 10 best engines list and that fact of that is the IS is a high power V6 engine (along with the G35 engine) that can get you great acceleration and 1/4 mile times without the use of a turbo...or a pair of them...made by mitsubishi...guess the german ones were not as good as the Japanese ones...anyway...

Now lets stop with the about the "great" BMW's and get back to the point at hand...the IS350.
