What does the IS use as an antenna now? I was wondering since it mentioned the new shark fin design.

Minor for the most part but very much welcomed changes/improvements.

Not too crazy about the sharkfin antenna though... I rather like the clean look.

It has a VDIM/VSC defeat button. I wonder if it will retrofit to the 06.........

Same questioned asked over at my.is

here was the answer from Webmaster

I wonder if a retrofit of the VDIM button onto a 2006 IS will be available?

If it's possible, we'll sell it in the store.

The sharkfin antenna will basically be used for satellite radio, although I guess it's possible other electronics will be routed through the sharkfin as well (standard radio, navigation, etc.). The satellite radio antenna used now is a horribly tacky black box that sits on the trunk lid with a wire coming out of it that goes into the trunk (although some people have placed the black box on the inside parcel shelf).

I am thrilled about the sharkfin!!! I know some people don't like it but I do. As for the design, I would guess it's the same sharkfin that will be used on the new LS and has been in use in Japan on the GS and IS already.

The addition of a VDIM-defeat button is minor? That's a HUGE deal in my eyes (especially in it's second year) and will undoubtedly bring the IS much more in line with competition like the 3er and G35. Great move, Lexus.

As Edmunds put it:

"Still, there's so much technology aboard the Lexus car, the driver is too insulated from the experience. The biggest downer is the inability to disarm the VDIM system, which mutes the sedan's performance long before the limits of its chassis and tires are reached. "

Very subtle changes. Not bad. I would definately like that VDIM button.

I curious on the fuel & trunk lights.

Can't wait to see Starfire Pearl.

*EDIT*, Nevermind, figured out the fuel/trunk lights

Can't you disable it at startup by doing the "dance"?

Back in the days of that review, no one really knew about the "dance" publicly.

It's definately nice to have a button to do that but since you can do the dance it seems minor. If you couldn't do it before, and you could do it now, that would be huge. I like how you'll be able to distinguish the '06's & '07's by the antenna.

The Obsidian black is supposed to be the blackest black Lexus has ever produced and will be shared with the GS and LS. Supposedly a mirror-black finish, expect it to look astonishing - when clean.
Black-onyx with Zaino Z2 Pro does that already for me. Would be interesting what Obsidian black does after a nice polish and a couple coats of Z2 Pro and some Z6.
