I've got the Bel RX-65. It has saved my butt so many times I've lost track.

I have a Beltronics V955 radar detector which has served me well for about 5-6 years now. In the past few weeks though, it's been showing "SelfCal" every once in a while and finally it's stopped working and is showing "Service Required". I did some research online and found that upon each startup, the detector runs a diagnostic check, and if it fails then it shows "Service Required".

Has anyone else had this issue? I fear that when I call Beltronics I'll find that it's going to cost more to send in for repair than buying a whole new one (which retails for $150).

Does anyone have a good recommendation on a replacement if it turns out I have to get a new one? The most I'm willing to spend is $150 (I don't need a V1 or 9500), and if I end up spending $150 I'll probably just end up getting a new V955 since it's worked so well for me thus far. But if you have a recommendation of another radar detector that's $150 or under, I'd love to hear it.

On a related note, I did a few searches online and I'm seeing some radar detectors for as low as $50, specifically ones from Whistler. Anyone have experience with these really low-priced detectors? I really don't need many features, I just want the ability to detect K, Ka, and laser, and I want a good range of detection.

at least in washington state for me, I've never had a ticket where radar was used and I lost. A majority of the time the gun just wasn't calibrated or the cert for it was just out of date. A few times I got lucky and the cop just didn't show up, but again, that was probably just because it was a smaller city where the cop probably just didn't want to show up...
Ooh gotcha. Yeah, if anything is expired (officer cert/gun calibration cert) then the ticket gets thrown out.

Howdy fellas, I recently bought an IS350 and it has a hardwire for a V1 I thing behind the rearview (looks like a phone cord). I haven't hooked anything up to it, but I noticed something the other week and have now recreated it many times. In many places around the Phoenix area there are speed cameras (the permanent ones have ground sensors) but there are typically digital signs not far from them that radar your speed and read it out on the sign. Every time I've passed one it's not picked up my speed. Not even once. I've done it like 20 times now. I floored it past one yesterday to about 65 and it only was picking up a car that was a ways behind that was going ~40mph. I've searched the car for jamming equipment high and low and can't find anything. What exactly am I looking for, or am I just stealthed up all the time?

my laser/radar detector picks up the lasers from some of those cameras Now i wish it had something to tell me where these cameras were. My only speeding ticket is from a camera.

The Escort 9500ix can do that. It has been working great the last couple years.
