You should know that a Solo S2 that is running on batteries suffers from a significant performance degradation. When you hook up the S2 to power, it might perform a little better. I once had the S2 to test it, hated it. Returned it after a day or two. If you want to read more about my short experience experience, I can send you the link (I had another car at the time) but it's not going to be pretty.

Thank you. The "significant performace degradation" and "but it's not going to be pretty" are 2 giant red flags. I was looking for ease of use, don't really mind buying the batteries, and I already have an iPod, phone charger, laptop charger, and more I am forgetting at this point. Just trying to eliminate all these cords that mess up my interior. OH, now I remember, how could I forget those cords for my window mounted Sirius receiver even tho I have already paid for my integrated NAV unit when I bought my car. Thanks Audiovox/Sirius/Lexus!

That makes 4 power cords at the moment and the radar detector would make 5. I need an electrician.

I don't use a radar detector as it will give me confidence to speed.

Yes maybe for a day or two. Then you revert to driving the way you were born to drive, the way it's been for years and years out of habit. So for me it's the other way around, I use the V1 because my driving habits with regards to exceeding the posted are not 100% in compliance. V1 shall help minimise some of the pain.

v1 is good, but regular radar detectors block my vision too much and there is a $95 charge if you are pulled over in addition to the ticket... i would go with a hidden one, very clean, very stealth...

everyone should know that you can always get an "obstruction of view" ticket in any state for having "things" in the windshield. Seems like the $95 charge is excessive (probably aimed at radar detectors owners) nevertheless years ago I got a pulled over for tint in MN and the trooper told me I had to take my radar detector down off my windshield else he'd write a ticket. i think high and overhead still counts as obstruction but most cops don't bother, they don't think radar detectors work away (against instant on).

For me, not a day or two. I haven't used one since my early 20s and I still don't see a need for it now. As I got older and matured, I learned to be in compliance as a habit (most of the time). That's why the number of speeding tickets I got declined through the years. Not one in 10 years.

But meanwhile they encourage you to keep the velcro strip with the EZ pass
tag right in the middle of your windsheild.. I guess obstructing your view is
Ok as long as it's making the State money

its not about obstruction of view, it is about having an intent to speed, the obstruction of view was my oppinion on radar detectors...

that's funny because you are partially right this time. there is in fact a ticketable offense in pretty much every state regarding obstructions in the windshield so your opinion about thinking it blocks your view is not just an opinion but totally true for everyone because there just so happens to be a laws that says if you have something in your windshield besides your rearview mirror, it could be considered obstruction. please join me in celebrating "the facts" lol.

all these could be tickets:
1.stuff hanging from your rearview mirror
2.tint on the front windshield
3.stickers across the top of the windshield
4.radar detectors attached to the windshield
5.license plates stuck in the windshield
6.a cracked windshield

For all of the time in California, as many times as I've been pulled over for minor things (routine stops, etc), I have never received a ticket for my V1.
