If someone would find out how to do this, you would be crowned the lexus Navigation Master.

Please all your Electrical Engineers out there, figure this out ...

I think there will be one problem though--where do we get the NAV head unit at?

no ones tried it yet, its going to be very tough to find a full nav ML deck like that, I suppose it shouldnt be that hard, might even be a direct swap. But no one has tried it yet, the parts alone are going to be tough to locate. Theres a DVD drive also for the navi DVD not sure if thats inside the deck or seperate. Also if the nav deck comes with ML you might not have the correct connections for the audio because the ML has a different amp than stock

Is that the right unit for your country? Looks like it was intended for a right hand drive car, but I thought vehicles in Taiwan were left hand drive?

Let us know how this works out! I am dying to have navigation unit in my car. I even dreamt about it last night. I am not joking.... I should have waited for the navigation.

But all the best to you!

This unit is from Japan , All IS in Taiwan are without NAVI but have ML!
I infer the connectors is similar,so I just want use the screen to control the AC and Stereo system!

A grilfriend of mine really wants an IS250 with nav but it's a bit out of her budget. She asked me just yesterday if it was possible to add the nav later... I woulnd't want her getting an aftermarket system becuase it just wouldn't look right, so if someone does indeed find a way to add this, that would be great... That center piece looks quite expensive however.

I personally don't think it would be possible without a LOT of work, especially since all the audio and climate controls are also routed through the nav screen, unless all the wire harnesses are plug n play and have the same pinouts between the two center pieces.

What about the navigation DVD? Does that go somewhere inside that thing or is there a seperate piece for that?

The nav dvd is in the unit behind the clock. I am not sure, but I would think you would also need the GPS receiver antenna to make it function (if the wiring harness' are the same between the nav and non-nav cars)...

take a pick of the back of your non nav unit if you get it out. I think its going to be a tough road ahead. unless there is a different harness you can buy

here are some pics that someon took of Navigation removal.
