Default MPH/Tachometer Satellite Indicator?

Hey guys, since the other lexus forum is dead, I'll ask the same question here. Anyways, I have probably a stupid question regarding the MPH/Tachometer satellite indicator switch in the IS350. The button's located to the lower left of the steering wheel and you can adjust this to see the MPH, tachnometer, gas mileage, average miles, etc digitally on the cluster. However, even though I know how to use them, I have no idea what the MPH or the Tachometer indicator is. I read the manual and it gives really brief information about them.

I realize the tachometer indicator is set at around 6k rpm. When I go above that, a nice yellow/orange light goes on on the tachometer. Is this to indicate that you have to shift soon and acts as a shift light??? What does the MPH indicator do?

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Kind of the same thing. The orange light is adjustable and it comes on whenever you hit the predetermined speed. It's just like a little warning to let you know your speeding because you can never feel it in this car. Then at 100mph a red light comes on instead of the orange light. This light is not adjustable and doesn't tun off until you drop back down under 100.

yeah the time the lights comes on is adjustable. during the break in period, i had mine go on at 3,500 rpm and 80 mph. now its set to 4,500 rpm and 85 mph. it just merely acts as a reminder that you need to shift or you're going too fast.

how about when you're on the freeway? that orange light will just stay on... unless you go under 50 on the fwy.

Yeah, I just tried it. Mine's set at around 75 and the light stayed on every time I went above that.

i dont mind it being orange the entire time whenever im on the freeway because its rare that your going to get a speeding ticket on the fwy unless your asking for one (ie. pushing hard..)

I have my tach lite up at 6,100 rpm - timed for manual upshift.
My speedo turns orange at 85mph, which is reckless driving here in CT. Keeps me jail-free.
