Hey those of you with stock fog lights... I just installed the Luminics 9006 12V 55W->130W 5150K Ultra White bulbs and they are really hot after about 5 minutes. So hot that I can NOT touch the outer fog light lense (the clear plastic facing forward). Is that normal even on the stock fog lights? Someone try it for me. Leave them on for 5-10 minutes and tell me if they are too hot to touch.
UPDATE: Yea the stock ones are just as hot. I put one side back in and they are way hot to the touch too. I guess the plastic housing is made to handle that sort of heat.

Just as I've mentioned on post #63, Halogen bulbs naturally run hot. Try putting one stock bulb on the drivers side and leave your Luminics bulb in the passenger side and compare the two.

I was wondering if anyone had tried the Nokya 5000k ones. I was reluctant to try them because on the box it said 100w but I wasn't sure if that meant it takes 55w and produces 100w.

Yes it is, the natural oils on your fingers will make the bulbs burn out eventually. If you touch them by accident, clean them off with some alcohol and you should be OK. When handling the bulbs, just grab them by the plastic base and not the bulb itself, or try using gloves.

Latex gloves are coated with a talcum powder like substance to make them go on easier. It probably isn't a problem but I'd still clean the bulb with a bit of alcohol as you install them to clear any powder being left on them.

I installed some 9006 Sylvania Silverstar Ultras in my wifes 08 IS' fogs. I just wanted to say what a pain in the butt! The area is very, very tight and my hands still hurt. I think the passenger side was a tad bit easier myself. You can actually see what your doing unlike the drivers side with the little(very tiny more like it) access panel. I like to never got the bulb out. Anyway, the look is great...but next time the dealer will do it. The Ultras are great by the way...I have them in every non hid bulb, on every vehicle that I own.

Thanks a bunch for the post, I figured it was through the wheel well like the first gen. I just posted this question and I was happy you confirmed this process. Much appreciation.
