I actually traded in my G35 coupe for an IS 250....yes an IS 250! I really didn't care about loosing performance because it is my daily driver and I could have had 500 HP on the G35 and it still wouldn't change the fact that my average speed for half my commute is 20 MPH . I really didn't like my G35. Maybe I got a bad one but I had 3 power windows go out (driver, passenger, then driver side again). It was a rattle box...parcel shelf, another one in the rear the dealer tried to fix but came back. Clutch chatter, cheap interior, horrible gas mileage. etc. In fact my Camaro SS gets almost as good horsepower and it's almost 400 HP! But the G35 did handle awesome. Again, ask yourself what you want in a car. I do not regret getting the IS250 and the build quality is so much better in the Lexus.

I find the new G pretty intriguing as well. Nice updates on the exterior and the engine has always been sold with great handling. Looks like it will be a beast. Question is, can Infiniti improve the interior quality. It looks like a huge improvement in the pics (a lot like the M34/45, which I find pretty sweet), but the question is will the material quality be better? Better leather particularly (and no infiniti logo stitched in the seats)...I would wait. Drive both and make the call. By then, I bet you can get into an '07 IS350 for about the same as a BRAND new G35...Good luck. I will be making the same decision in December...

I just think the IS series in general looks so much more aggressive and sleek than the G35 but I love the power that my g35 has.[/QUOTE]
What is your current g35 hp??

in your opinion would it be worth losing the manual tranny??? I enjoy the more horsepower you can get out of the manuals. i know the 350 comes with paddle shifters but is it the same?

Every man has his own interest. In my opion, my dailly average speed is 40mph(due to traffic), so I really don't mind loosing the stick. However, "once in a while" I wish that the car has the manual transmittion. As far as the paddle shifter, It has a second delay when you're shifting, but it is fun to have IMO.

The paddle shifters are not a real replacement for a stick. They are like the early model G's where it's more of a gear limiter where if you're in 4th, it'll use all four gears at the computer's discretion (just like my '03 G sedan) but they are great for downshifts.

The only time I'll miss the stick that I had in my G coupe is when I'm out on the circuit where I won't be able to get that perfect (it's actually less than perfect most of the time), 4th to 2nd heel toe downshift.

if you are not looking for power, you could go with a BMW 328i?

Find some middle ground?

I think it has 230hp.

that is a possibilty. Ive just started looking at BMWs and Mercedes. The backseat of the BMW and Mercedes though look hella small. I have heard that with BMW and Mercedes though you HAVE to go through them for ALL scheduled maintenance or your warranty will be no good. Does anyone know if that is true?

try out a test drive on the IS350 the automatic in manual mode shifts pretty fast compared to other manual modes of other autos ive driven. Ive been driving manual for 8 years, still love it but I plan to get an 07 IS350 whether a stick comes out or not. Yes other cars have manual but the overall package is just so much better in a lexus. Ill just keep the car in manual mode where ever I go. BMW 335 is nice but its going to break the bank when they release pricing.

Id you had to pick a BMW or MB, id go with a BMW, they have some problems but still a hell of a lot less problems than MB

You probably know that the Infiniti G35 sedan will be a new model for 2007, due out this fall. In the pictures I’ve seen it’s much improved over the current model so you may want to wait to see it. Then, of course, there will be a new G35 coupe in the fall of 2007 as a 2008 model.

I currently drive a 2004 G35 coupe (our new IS250 is really my wife’s car) with a lease ending in the fall of 2007. So I have a decision to make similar to yours. Frankly, based on how impressed I am with our new IS250, I’m leaning toward an IS350 for myself next year. But I will wait to see both new Infinitis.

Tough choice. Like everyone else has already been saying, you should weigh the pros and cons of each car and decide for yourself what's more important? If power is the most important to you then stick with the G but if luxury is more important and power not so important then get the 250. If you could afford more then you can get the best of both worlds (350) but since you can't, you'll have to sacrifice one for the other.

Btw, how are you doing on gas mileage w/the G? I heard it gets horrible gas mileage. My friend has an '04 G and he gets 18 mpg tops. That's just crazy!

I drive mostly city miles with the exception of my quick 5-10 min hop on the freeway everyday...other than that its city roads and I get an avarage of 21.5mpg. However I just filled up and I have used my a/c everyday this week with our 90+ degree temperature days. Its not so bad. I drive semi aggressive too...not starting out slow and so forth...but Im not flooring it to 4k or 5k rpms each time either. I cant say that I can complain that much about the gas mileage.
