True both come from parent companies.
Lexus from Toyota
Infiniti from Nissan which is now from Renault in some ways

Also Lexus clearly is a leader in the industry with the Germans, and continues to seperate itself from Toyota. Infiniti's are still Nissans in Japan sold to us here.

No question asked, between G35 & IS250, G35 all the way...
But, there is only one thing that IS250 beats G35: MPG!

The 275 hp 2006 G35x auto has been tested at 5.9s (R&T).

The 300+ hp 2007 G35 auto could probably do it in the mid 5's. The manual will be in the low 5's.

As far as the interior goes, I wouldn't automatically chalk it up to the IS250 yet. As far as I know, none of us has sat it the G35. From what I see in photos, I actually prefer the design of the 2007 G35 interior. It's more interesting and stylized, without being overly stylized. The IS250 interior, especially without the screen (which only comes with Nav), looks pretty boring and sterile. I'm not sure if the 2007 G35 has the screen standard, even without Nav.

No doubt, the soft quality of materials in the IS250 is first rate, and there's just something nicer about the tactile feel and placement of controls in Lexuses over all other manufacturers.

Exterior design-wise, both are great looking vehicles. I prefer the G35 a tad more however. Of course, I may feel differently when I see it in person.

I saw the new G35 at the NY auto show. The interior looks more striking in photos than in person. I was kind of disappointed actually. It looks less different from the old model in person than in photos. Basicaly the center stack is almost the same. The steering wheel is nice, and the gauges are ok. I think they look nicer at night.

I still think the G35 is a poor-mans 3-series. IS is a different beast. So if you want a 3 but don't want to pay the price, get the G. If you don't want the 3, get the IS

G35! Because IS350 has no Manual. Although IS has a better interior, but I will be enjoying the car than playing with buttons! Also, G35 is a bigger car.

IS350 with sport package + navi will go up to like 41,xxx (source from edmunds.com), and G35 with STANDARD VQ35DET + sport package 6mt + navi should be a little less.

Keep in mind, G35 has STANDARD V6 3.5 liters. If you don't like flappy plastic peddles behind the steering wheel, G35 is the car!

Its VQ35DE and the new 07 G35 will have paddles behind the steering wheel just like the IS.

You are correct, no T because there is no Turbo....my mistake.

More pix for some that cares.

The plastic peddles won't bother me because I am not getting it. And yes, like you said, it has plastic peddles in the G35 as well.

I believe it is the LACK of power and the anemic torque output rather that speed. Also the sneaking feeling that an second generation IS300 will be released that will kick sand in the face of the IS250.

Some of the styling (door panels of the IS350/250 are a work of art, IMO) of the Lexus are awesome but the plasticky center stack is a real turnoff. I like what I've seen generally of the new G35. If you want a stick it is a no brainer.

I think the G looks better in these pics than the official press release.

The steering wheel might be a Ferrari copy but it doesn't work for me.

The paddle shifters in the G35 are solid magnesium. The shifters in the IS350 are painted plastic.

IS shifters are too small also, a ferraris is much longer around the steering wheel and its easier to reach especially when turning, i found this a bit disappointing in the IS

So I decided to wait until november when the new G comes out. Hopefully Lexus will be more flexible with their prices by then. It will also give me a chance to drive the new G and compare it with both the IS. Another reason is if I get the IS, I want the 07. I want as few bugs as possible.

Also notice that when it comes to leasing, Lexus has high money factor. My Infinity lease has a money factor of 160, Lexus is in the neighborhood of 245. Is there any time of the year that Lexus has specials on leasing, like around december or something?
No offense or anything, but if you're looking to buy a car of this class and are this worried about the cost, perhaps you should be looking at a cheaper vehicle.
