Yea, I've had my eye on the 2IS for a while too now, but deciding to purchase a condo when I go to med school locked up any money I had/was going to have... and then some! lol
Curious, what do you think of your Mazda6? What about the long-term quality and ride and handling and all that?

The Mazda 6 is probably the worst car I've ever driven. I used to have a Mustang and a Civic which were both significantly cheaper than the 6 and never had a single problem with either. I also have driven many other cars, parents, friends, while working valet, etc. The 6 is manual and I have had the car for 3 years and still cannot believe how poorly Mazda desinged this transmission....its been in the shop numerous times. 
So with that being said, I am thrilled to get out of it and get into the 250.
