Hmmm.... $110... Rent a car or get a few songs worth of lap dances in the VIP section.... decisions decisions... haha.

Insurance is a joke... That is what I pay $150 a month for, to have insurance... So what if for an extra $15 a day, my insurance company doens't have to pay for the damages... If I get into an accident, it still goes on my DMV record and if it's my fault, my rates still go up, regardless of weather or not my insurance pays, or the rental agency's insurance pays... Biggest waste of money IMO.

I would rather be in the comfort of the Lexus plush interior, and cooled seats, vs. some rental car.

I can't wait to drive mine to Vegas in October. It will make a nice ride from San Diego.

Hi Ramon! I'm in San Diego as well. I just made that drive about 2 weeks ago for a wedding. Let me tell you it was great to drive. I drove up with my friend and I ended doing all of the driving. He didn't get a chance to get behind the wheel. (I wasnt tired, Maybe it's a control thing) The traffic heading back to SD was horrible. It took 2 hours to get to Barsto from Vegas and ended up taking about 7 hours to get home (I do miss my 5-Speed but, the automatic was heaven sent). We were comfortable though. It's too late now but, because of the construction I would recommend flying next time. But, do what you feel is best. You have to take her for a road trip sometime. Have a safe & fun trip!

You can drive your car and I don't see anything wrong with that. I drove my car up to Tahoe when it's snow and the car is fine.

Well I just got back from the rental agency and came away with a brand new Pontiac Grand Prix (7800 miles on the odo...) Kinda nice since the car my IS replaced was a Grand Prix too (although mine had a blower strapped to it) so I'm very familiar and comfortable with the car. I had pretty much already made up my mind to rent prior to starting this thread, I was just curious to see what everyone else would do.

I have no doubt the IS would have been a more fun drive, but I'll also take some pleasure in knowing that it isn't my car i'll be beating up. It's also nice knowing when I get back, my IS will be nice and clean. I'm having my detail guy come out and clean her up while i'm gone. There will probably be a couple times during the trip where I'll wish I had the additional 106 ponies the IS has, but I'll be content for the most part. I put it through it's paces on the way home and it's surprisingly light on it's feet for only having 200hp.

insurance saved my *** once. the rental place wanted to charge me for a dent that i got but luckily i got the insurance. that was a lot easier than having to go thru my insurance to cover that lil tiny dent. most of the times when i return a rental they dont' even look at the car and just take it back. dunno why they looked that time. it also gives you peace of mind knowing that you can come back to the rental office with just the keys and tell em someone stole the car and not be liable for anything.

Rent. Nothing will happen to the rental on the road. You will not break the windshield or get any major dings. It's a crazy weekend to be in Vegas, but no one's going to vandalize a Sunfire when they can key a nice new car. It seems to be the way things work.

Do Not buy the insurance. It's a scam unless you are from overseas, in which case you are required to buy it. If you ignore this advice and buy the insurance anyway please know that 1) you are required to submit a police report for any damage to the rental car company in order to be covered and 2) you are throwing your money away.

If you drive your own new car, chances are, something could happen and it will **** you off.

I have a 94 GS300 and I bought it 5 years ago with comfort on Vegas trips in mind and I wouldn't drive that car this weekend (but it is cleaner than most). Any other weekend, the old school GS would be on I-15 to Las Vegas.

I'm kinda torn on this one. I've been to Vegas before and can see how your car would take a beating with that long drive, then again, I didn't spend $40K on a car to just let it sit in the driveway all the time.

That's what I did with my Integra. Now I have a 12 year old car with on 67K on the clock.

Again, my IS does not sit in the garage all the time. Hardly at all. I drive it daily. Now over 11k on the odo and the car is six and a half months old.

Well, I'm off... If I reply again it should be from Las Vegas, NV!
