Police Executed my wife's 350

That's the stupidest thing I have ever heard. It's 100 degrees in NorCal, how else are you supposed to protect leather from sun? In Arizona, tint is LEGAL. Only in California since the gang problems in L.A.
I hate cops, always hasseling you for a lame reason. They should go after real criminals. They're never around or slow to respond when you need them and always right there harrassing you for no good reason.

i'm sorry to any decent hard working cops out there, but it is this bull**** that creates the hatred for police out there. After my accident I got ****ed over by a cop because he put words in my mouth and I was to naive to know any better. There are plenty of good cops out there, but it is these mother******* that really cause my blood to boil. Don't these a******* have anything better to do like, IDK catch a rapist or child molester?

Here's what I think... I've heard that no tint is legal on the front windows (based on what AutoMallTintSpecialists told me).
REGARDLESS, there are procedures for police to follow. I don't think anyone's heard of front window tints as being a moving violation, so most likely the cop was out of line. True, the tint is illegal, but it's supposed to be a fix-it ticket. What's next? If you don't have a front license plate, the cop is going to drill holes in your bumper and put it there himself? NO! You need to keep the police in control. The last thing you want is an out-of-control cop.

I located the officer's name from the Sgt. at PD office. It was an easy task with my wife's description.... about 60 yrs old, 260 lb plus, and on bike...

I know it sucks, but at least he did not ticket you for aftermarket exhaust. California has a noise law, if your exhaust >95 dB, you will get a ticket.

They don't call it Freakmont for nothin
That is very harsh.
Was it the front winshield or the front side windows? The side windows should just be a fix-a-ticket.
I can understand the front windows, but unless the laws changed again, side window tinting is correctable, and on the same level of 'lawlessness' as driving with no front plate.
Well, at least he didn't try citing you for your exhaust, or try making you take it off

Your wife will have a validated complaint against the officer. Although his actions are not criminal, it will most certainly go against the grain of the departments policies. Press the issue with police agency and insist on being informed of the resolution with this officer.
Using the color of authority to intimidate citizens with threats of unlawfull actions on his part, i.e., towing your car, should at minimum make that department take a look more closely at this guys previous actions. And more importantly, make him think twice about feeding a citizen bogus information in order to force a decision upon them with no escape but to comply.
I would have told the guy go for it.... Tow my car. Then I would have contacted my attorney and in the end, owned a little piece of that department. Reason being, you cannot be arrested, which is what the encounter would have been in that case, for an infraction of the Ca VC. If you refuse to sign the ticket, you can be transported to the traffic court for immediate adjudication of the offense. But, if all your information was available, license, insurance, etc. , then there would be no just cause, or probable cause to deprive the motorist of the right to drive away and address the citation at the time of the court appearance.
Now, I'm no "expert" in this stuff, but I can say that I have been involved in the justice system for the past 8 years, and this is my opinion based on the info you provided.

To me, it is not about the money, but I think the cop should not say "Ticket & tow, or peel off now..."
There are more details that I did not mention but the whole thing just not acceptable to me.
I know not much about the law on the automotive window tinting, or what kind of mod is ok or not ok, but asking my wife to remove tint on the side of the street, on her new car.... That makes me mad.
She does not even know how to use a screwdriver!

That's just horrible. I was pulled over twice (by the same cop) for tint on my previous GS. Had 32% all the way around. Thankfully a law enforcement friend was able to sign off on the tickets.
Haven't had any problems with my current GS yet (knock on wood). Have 32% for the side windows and 20% for the rear. FWIW, I live in San Diego.
