Default The New IS in Europe

I recently went to London for 3 weeks, and stayed in the City. I went out everyday to sightsee and I looked at all car traffic as well. I saw many Ferraris, Lamborghinis, Aston Martins, and Bentleys as well as a few LS's, GS's, and a LOT of previous generation IS's. However, I did not see ONE of the newest generation IS there. I am wondering if the new IS is a success in Europe. I thought it would be a hit especially with its' Diesel alternate, but now I am not to sure. Is there any specific reason or is it just not popular in London.

Thanks

Maybe one possible reason is that the 2IS has not been out nearly as long as the first gen IS ?

Last October, I was in London for 3 days & I saw at least one 3GS everyday, 4 or 5 in total I think, I also saw a LS430, but not one first gen. IS.

Just b/c you didn't see it does not mean it isn't selling. Sales are up up up in Europe. They Do need to bring them the IS 350 though.

Its still rare to see a Lexus. The IS 200/300 is really liked in the U.K and Europe.

Correct. And I'm starting to see I'm not alone in Italy... at least in Milan and Rome I've already seen some other IS! (just a few, btw)

In England, tax payers gets tax recession according how much CO2 their company car is producing. The new IS green house emission is a lot worse when compare to say BMW 3 series diesel. Hence that's one of the reason. Also, manual cars are preferred in Europe and IS manual gearbox has been fairly disappointing too.

So the new IS has only been sold this year... that makes more sense now. I understand that just by me not seeing any does not mean that they are not sold. I just thought it was surprising to see not one New IS.

Thanks

The UK is the biggest Lexus market in Europe.
The new IS isn't around in big numbers yet.

I've seen 2 in the wild.

Actually, sales started in November last year. It is a fact that gen2 IS sales are not that good over here. Since November, I have seen 3 of them in Paris area !! To that several reasons:

Lexus as a brand is just starting to be known

IS220d which is supposed to get 90% of the sales missed the point. it does not come with an auto box that all competitors offer and which is required for this type of vehicle, the D4D engine was quite a dissapointment in terms of perfs and gas mileage and the CO² emission level is high therefore taxes are higher than BMW for examples.

The IS250 lacks the power its price tag would suggest. In other words, it is far too expensive for only 208 PS (€ 45.500 / $ 57.000 for an auto Pack Executive fully loaded ) for such an heavy car. BMW and AUDI do much better in this area.

Since Novembre last year, when the new Is was made available, NONE of our club members exchanged his Gen1 IS for a Gen² IS. IMHO, It means that there must be something wrong somewhere.

Lexus really needs to start pushing the brand a lot more in Europe.

They need to introduce more diesel models than just the IS220d there, like they are doing with the Toyota models . . . or maybe even more 4 cylinder versions for the European market, they don't sell a lot of V6's & V8's of any brand there.

Hello,

I have an IS250 manual with sports pack, since having it I have had a new engine, clutch, flywheel, gearbox, new computers and front seats replaced. this is the worst car I have owned.

Does anybody know of this problem on other IS250's?

Here in the US you don't see many ISs. Since I have been interested (and ordered one) in the IS (past 3 months) and looking for them I've only seen mybe a handful on the street (here in the northeast).
