Default Sprint users no need for Nav hack

I just use Sprint voice command by dialing * and I can use my voice to dial even while moving. Whew, I can put off the nav hack for a little while longer.

Your title is a little deceiving... Can you play DVD's while you are moving as well?

The car voice recognition system includes a feature "call by name" that supposedly lets you do the same thing.

and whalla i'm connected...Nice!
Whalla? Is that what they say at Wally World?
Think you mean "voila."

Actually voice command for Sprint is a lot better IMO then the voice recognition for the car. Also unfortunately for us Northeaterners, its almost impossible to find a ML without waiting 4 or so months. As for browsing mp3 files while moving, even I think thats dangerous, I'm happy with our pseudo random feature.

Advantages of Sprint Voice Command:
1.It works when your phone is not in your car.
2. You can add names over the internet .
3. When you change phones, Voice command goes automatically to the new phone.

Well I just realized I need to do the nav hack in order to get caller Id on it to work while in motion

Just to clarify, would it also show the number even if its not in my phonebook for the car while it is in motion after the nav hack?

If you have pocket pc or pocket pc phone edition use Microsoft's Voice Command.
Leaps and bounds better than what came with my Cingular 8125. Works great in the
car.

I like it because it can read the mp3 tags. Like you can say play "artist" or "title" or "album" or "genre" or even "everything" as well as starting programs, calling etc. You can even say "whats my next appointment" for meetings etc.

oh yea I dont have Nav so no bluetooth, I use the aux plug

There's also two voice commands for Lexus:

Dial by name
Dial by number

My cell phones also have voice dialing built-in, but it does not work on the Lexus. (RAZR and SLVR). I can use the Motorola voice dialing from other bluetooth car kits, (Motorola HF850 car kit in my Scion), but in the Lexus, the handsfree profile is used instead of the headset profile. (Prevents using the phone's voice dialing feature).
