Default Color-matched engine cover

Here's something Pocky and I have been scheming on for a while now... I got my painting guru to paint my engine cover Glacier Frost Mica - it looks like pearl in the pictures, but for those of you who have ever seen this color, it's an amazing color, and it looks even better in the engine bay! I imagine this would look out-of-this-world with a darker color, like Matador Red...

Javier

The stock cover looks cheap (but somewhat metallic), that painted cover looks like porcelain (right out a lavatory ).

I really wanted to do something like this too but I'd like to see the center portion painted in a black color, the part with the honeycomb.

i would paint, but im afraid of the heat from the engine messing up the paint on the cover...i dunno if its well founded, but this is an easy mod that looks cool.

btw, here is a link to someone else who painted the engine cover:

Gee thanks for ruining my fun, gshb... Well, I may not be the first, but I'm still pretty unique

Thanks for the kind words, everyone. I had some of the same concerns about heat possibly damaging the engine cover until I realized that the engine cover is ALREADY painted silver in stock form. Also, my painter didn't paint the underneath, just the top surface, so I shouldn't have any heat-related issues there. What I AM concerned with, though, is the dust and grime from the engine getting into the paint. I just put it on there today to take pictures - I'm driving around now without it, because it's sitting in my apartment (I want the paint to seal and dry REALLY well) I might get another stock cover for daily use, and save this one for meets and such, because I REALLY like the way this came out. I'll find out tomorrow how much the dealership wants for another cover.

Oh, BTW conekiller, I can hook you up with a top-notch pinstriper in CT

p.s. - I just realized there is some evidence of my activities earlier in the day in one of the pictures I posted...

That looks really sharp.
Having the honeycomb part painted a different accent color would really make it stand out more and look a lot better.
