so if i print out those directions and give them to an audio shop, they should have NO PROBLEM doing this mod? I have a friend that works there and is gonna do it for me, that is the only reason im not doing it myself. He has all the tools and is hardwiring my V1 as well.

So if I'm in a large city with sky scrapers or in a long tunnel and I can't get a GPS signal, the 'car' on the nav map will still continue to move even though the speed sensor wire is cut?

Thanks.

so i'm getting it both ways. this morning, i plot the course to work and "the guidance will begin..." but that was it; i never got any audible turn commands and it never told me i had arrived. when i got to my parking garage (which has no gps signal), the nav got lost and dead reckoning did not take over. now i go home for lunch, plot a course home, and i get all the audible turn commands and "you have arrived...."

have to do some experimenting to figure out why but if you're like me and don't plot courses all the time, it is very possible this could be happening to you to and you don't notice it. i just want to find out exactly why and how under the circumstances but movies+ is way better than the occasional nav route....

I have read most of the posts here.
Let me tell you exactly what we have done by doing the nav hack. All we have done is bypassed the speed signal to the multi-display, the component that handles climate control, audio etc. In no way did we affect the functionality of the NAV component, because the speed signal is now going directly from the wheels (essentially) to the NAV unit itself, so it sees NO change. All of my voice commands work fine, (when i have it turned on) If you read all the disclaimers it says that the accuracy etc is proximal. I definetly have encountered many errors on the mapping system ( I live in Los Angeles) I feel that we all are simply encountering these mapping errors.

Me and Pocky did the nav hack running into minor troubles. Try seeing if the route guidance recalculates when you go off course and if it doesn't you've got a loose wire

When I go off course it sometimes recalculates and sometimes it doesn't. Is that a loose wire...which?

edit: i think i have a jumpy nav, i'll go back and check in that other big thread to see what was done about it....and i guess the next time i have to "go in" i'll try to correct it.

After the Nav Hack, my nav has little red dots on the road like route record marking and I don't know how to get rid of it.
It's like I've been doing route recordings.
I'm wondering if anyone has same problems.

No problems for me, either. Was watching Spiderman 2 and was prompted by Nav Lady to turn left/right the entire time...

Sounds like loose wires or software problems?

Sounds like you have trace on, there's a command somewhere in there to turn it off, since I am not in my car right now I can't really tell you where.

I did the nav hack...works wonders. NAV works just fine! No side-effects.

Ken, I do believe in fact you have a wire loose, or the connection is not stablized. It's time to "go in" again.

Incorrect, if you press "Map View", then press "Record", it will trace. If you press "Map View" then "Stop" then it should stop recording, and then ask if you wish to leave the trace on the screen, or remove the trace.

(I had to sign in to the Lexus site to see the Nav manual to find this.)
