Well I guess impressions are very subjective, so it isn't possilbe for everyone to see the same thing when looking at a car. I see a gorgeous, GENDER and AGE neutral color. Obviously, others may see something different.
I disagree though that it is in any way similar to "powder blue". If it were powder blue, I would dislike it too. It has an irradescence and a richness that is definitely NOT a ho-hum powder blue.
Good thing Lexus has so many awesome colors to choose from. Everyone can pick whatever shade that suits their fancy. One man's "Ugh!...looks like grandma's car" is another man's "Whoa! Look at that sexy beast!"

Default Worth a thousand words...

There is a difference between "powder blue" (like with baby blankets and leisure suits from the 50's) and "Breakwater Blue" which is a metallic silvery blue. Two completely different things...

As for "masculine" or "feminine" or "sleek" or "conservative" or the such: has anyone heard of "A picture is worth a thousand words"? The IS is worth a thousand words, and you'll find them all in this Forum!!!

Hmmm... 95 % of probably 10 (at most) 2ISs sold. What % is that of the overall 2IS sales. You can't draw ANYTHING from that. All of the colors in the '06 lineup neutral. I think it's a pretty strange thing to say that the color is mostly bought by females. As a matter of fact, of the CL members I've seen post here that have BWB, most, if I recall correctly, are male. BWB is fantastic color. I'd worry more about the interior color. I can see how the cashmere interior would be more difficult to keep looking pristine than the black. I think your combo would like great.

I also have breakwater and no way is it powder blue or baby blue. It's definately more silver metalic than powder pastel. My buddy has a crystal white 2IS and he doesn't get nearly as many looks as when we're cruising in my breakwater. Go got breakwater simply because a special car is deserving of a special color, white, black, and grey just doesn't cut it imho.

Hey, maybe you BWB owners think I'm color blind (and I hope Phil isn't going to ban me for this ), but I just don't see a huge difference in shade between an old metallic blue Caprice and the BWB IS. Try to imagine what the Caprice looked like before years of neglect left it rusty and oxidized:

^no it's not.. and you can take just about any other color in the new IS and get some crappy rusted version of a similar color and have it look the same in the pics. if you see how light reflects off of the real breakwater color you'd know it was something special. Pictures just can't capture it. Same way glacier frost looks crappy and dull in pics but awesome when the light shines off of it.

C'mon, just be satisfied that you're attracted to old people colors and move on. I mean, leisure suits came back, why not powdery 70s wedding blue?

That's why people pay extra $$$ for "pearl" or "metallic" paint.

You can get the same color, but as soon as you add the pearl/clear coat, the color is brilliant, not flat.

However, light blue is light blue. Same color but different gloss and sparkle.

We (BWB people) like the color, and like the gloss and sparkle even more...

Do I have a mean streak, or what? (or as Bugs Bunny would say: uh, Aint I a stinker!)

Just kidding, couldn't resist.

Have you check the photo gallery here on Club Lexus? There are many nice photos of BWB 2IS cars in that collection.
