In SoCal right now you can get that car with MSRP $44,429 for $40,527 before you bargain. It will go even lower if you persist a little. Thats lux, nav, ML, wheel locks, mats, & cargo net.

I'm in NorCal, but flying down this weekend to take delivery. I can't get that deal in NorCal from the dealers I've talked to here.

I posted this in another thread, but that was before this thread was started, so I thought that I'd have more luck posting it in here. Anyway, I just got a qoute on a 2006 IS RWD AT yesterday at the closest lexus dealer to me, and it was higher than I expected. I was qouted $607 per month on a 36 mo. lease for a $34k car. The dealer can't keep an IS on his lot, they're all being sold as soon as they arrive at the dealer. I asked him if he could come down on the price any w/o any heavy negociating and he said that even though it was an 06, he couldn't come down on the price any cuz th ecars are selling like crazy and no matter what he'd still be able to sell the car. I'm unsure about how to get him to come down on the price b/c I can see where he's comming from on why he says that he can't come down on the price.

Any suggestions about how to go about this or what to say to the guy to get him to come down on the price.

I also contacted another dealer, and was qouted about the the same for the same price car.

Look at it from the dealers perspective why drop the price when you can get some schmuck to pay full price on the car maybe even the same day. You know its just not good business to sell for less than top dollar if you can get it. Its all about supply and demand. If you really want this car you will have to search around a little maybe even other cities or states.

My lease is about to end on my G35 this month and looking for a IS350 with Lux/NAV/ML package. I'm in socal. Can you mention which dealer/s are quoting the price you mentioned? Are you getting yours for that price? How much more do you think we go down on that price? I'm hoping something like 39500 at least. I mean the difference btwn invoice and msrp is like $5700 for this car. I hope they start to deal closer to invoice when the august and september rolls around or else I might look elsewhere for a replacement for my G.

Send Longo an email. Send Mission Viejo an email. Ask for the price you want. You might get it Mission Viejo is quoting the $40,527 price on Autotrader if you send an inquiry. I am paying less than 5 percent over invoice, but not a lot more than airfare for two less than the Internet quote. $39,500 will be challenging, but you might get it. Good luck!

BTW, $39500 is about 2.3 percent over published invoice. It would be a really sweet deal for someone without a Toyota connection.

You can't expect dealers to provide world class service on razor thin margins.
World class service doesn't cost them a penny. It's all about the attitude of the salespeople, staff, etc.

You're missing your calling, ff_. You ought to get a job at WalMart corporate headquarters, and show them how they can provide the service and amenities of a high end botique without raising their prices.

The Lexus dealer where I bought my car is chock full of plasma TVs, free food and drink, and other niceties. Even the hand towels in the restrooms are the thick expensive kind that you'll find in fancy restaurants. I'm sure that their overhead is tremendous.

The sales staff are low pressure and helpful, did not try to sell worthless add-ons or high margin service offerings, presumably because they are compensated well enough that they don't need to wring every last nickel from customer wallets in order to put food on the table.
