Will I Be Satisfied?
I totalled my '01 IS300 in March. Since then, I've been temporarily driving an '03 325i. I'm now looking to get into an IS250 RWD.
I'm in love with the 2IS, but I've yet to test-drive it. The 325i's power is completely sufficient for me, as the car feels much faster than it's 184 horses would suggest. The IS250 has 20 horses on the '03 325 I've been driving, but I wonder if it feels as powerful. The E90 325i is out of the question. In terms of exterior styling, interior appointments, and standard features, the IS is the car for me. Moreover, I've experienced both Lexus and BMW reliability, and I'd prefer to remain in the Lexus family. My only issue is the performance, as I don't want to downgrade from what I'm driving now.
To those who've driven both: If I'm completely satisfied driving this car, will I be similarly satisfied in an IS250?
Oh, and in case anyone is wondering, this is my dream IS:
IS250 RWD
Crystal White w/ Black Leather
Mark Levinson
ISP-Mode 18" wheels

If you are ok with the power of the bmw then the IS 250 will be plenty. Handling, cornering, suspension, and feel will be better (performance wise) with the bmw. Lexus suspension is more of a luxury ride (softer) than the bmw

I assumed "Starfire Pearl" was just another name for Crystal White.
I doubt Lexus would drop white from the lineup altogether. It's probably just more of a pearlescent shade of white.

I can't comment on the power/performance differences between the two, but you will experience a different kind of ride and handling.
The steering on the IS is more artificial and a good bit lighter than the Beemer's. As soon as you get used to that, though, the IS has good turn-in, little body roll and generally good handling dynamics. Brakes are excellent, and the transmission works very well.
Someone above mentioned the ride being softer, but unless you've been driving a Sport model BMW, I think you'll find the standard IS suspension firm enough for most people's tastes and a bt more so than the BMW.
Just my take ... .
