Default Pricing again

Edmunds.com states:

2006 Lexus IS 350

National Base Price
Regional Adjustment
VN Navigation System/Mark Levinson Package
ST Sport Package
PS Lexus Pre-Collision System w/Dynamic Cruise Control
HW Headlamp Washers
Smoky Granite Mica
Destination Charge
Invoice = $40,412

Is it resonable to assume that most dealers will accept $1000 over invoice? In this case $41,412.00

it depends on local demand, some cities have heavy demand for the IS and still do MSRP only or a small discount, some places have given 3500 off MSRP

$1000 over invoice----NO, probably won't happen unless you have an in with the dealership in your area of the country. $1000 under sticker----Yes

Don't go buy Edmunds solely. Know what you want or the car you are looking at. The packages are different and may not be a single option like Edmunds will quote. Plus, the dealership has a different invoice (usually over $400) probably for holdback, but it didn't say when my salesman showed me the dealer's invoice. Just that Edmunds was not correct.

Read the Sticky on pricing to see what's reasonable for your area.

Mostly likely NOT. Demand is still high.

Besides what others have said about pricing, it isn't even reasonable to expect that dealers in your area will have the car as you've configured it. Go to the Lexus website, choose "build your IS' and plug in your zip code. You'll then be able to see the (limited) configuration of options and packages that are available in your geographic area. Configurations that aren't on the "build your IS" link for your zipcode would have required a special order and a four month wait.

check out KBB.com... they claim the average sales price is right around $41,400 on a loaded is350.

The higher the demand of the car (especially the 350 with that color), the less likely (but not definate) that you'll get the car at that price.

The best thing to do is to find a comfortable median between you and the dealer. If you have to pay an extra $1k over what you want, remember that it's only about $20 a month financed for 5 years...

I think there is more demand for the IS250.

I went to Tustin Lexus last week. They only had 2 IS250s on the lot and 20+ IS350 with EVERY color! I was shocked to see that many new IS's. This was on the main lot. They also store their inventory upstairs in their structure. I'm sure they have over 30+ IS's. This dealer is not that big either.

I'm sure anyone can get $4000 off right now on an IS350.

20 IS350? Are you sure? Hmmm... that's alot of IS350 sitting on a lot for a small dealer like Tustin. I'm looking to buy but not now since the car is still red hot and excellent deals don't seems to be in the majority so i play the waiting game!

Yes 20, they were scattered all around their lot. I did not go upstairs to their garage where they have more storage.

I cruised by Longo Lexus as well. I went downstairs to there storage lot and there were lots of IS's also. Mostly IS350's.

Have you tired on getting a good deal? If there are 20 cars on the lot then you CAN get an excellent deal. Some people do not know how to negociate properly.

I got my 350 from Longo after an Internet pricing request. Here's what I got:
IS350 - Blue Onyx Pearl (wife's choice) - Cashmere
Lux package
Nav/ML
wheel locks, mats, and cargo net.
MSRP - $44429.00

Paid - $40200.00

You can get good deals if you are willing to travel. I was planning a trip to SoCal anyway, and no one in NorCal had that color for delivery. I checked with Sacramento Lexus - they never even saw the car on allocation - and Magnussen's. Magnussen's told me straight up, no way would they take that much off the car. So we flew to Ontario, got picked up by our sales person, had all the negotiation done and paperwork done before we arrived, handed them a check, drove to the Ritz in Marina Del Rey for the night, had dinner at their restaurant, and STILL came out better than buying in NorCal.

And the 400 mile drive home was the perfect opportunity to break the engine in my way. It's a really, really nice ride.

you should be able to get an 06 right now for 2-3k off, since 07's come out in a couple months and they arent making 06's anymore

my dealer(only dealer in state) gave me 1500 off for my 250 awd , but wouldnt go any lower cause it was the only one he had

said he would go lower on rwd 250 or 350 no problem

search around, do some homework and maybe you can get a great deal

I'm picking up my IS350 from Magnussen's tonight. I got more than 4K off MSRP but I've bought a lot of cars from them over the last few years.

It's pretty clear why they would do this for you and not for me.
