Default Just installed the K&N drop in filter for IS350

I just got my K&N filter today. I put it in already. I can feel the engine breathes easier and the engine is more responsive. Also the A/C is stronger too (make sense??). It has been so hot up here in Nor Cal and it's good that my engine can get more air. Thumbs up.

Nope, not really. This sounds like a classic case of wanting to see a result so you invent one where there is none... Just like the engine probably isn't really breathing better either.

What's the difference between the K&N drop-in and the K&N cone style filter??

The drop-in simple replaces the OEM filter, the airbox and the rest of the intake remain untouched, a cone filter would eliminate the stock air box...

But I agree with bdmac, there is no way you're going to actually feel the difference form a simple filter upgrade.

drop in filter is for your stock air box....ie. stock intake or JoeZ

the cone is for the short ram intakes.. ie LMS or Fujita

I think the drop-in replacement is just an exact replacement to the factory filter that goes in the factory filter box. I believe the cone filter requires you to remove the filter box (and filter) and replace the whole filter assembly with the cone filter which is exposed instead of encased in the filter box.

I know in the case of Cherolet, a K&N filter voids the warranty on the mass airflow sensor because of the oil contained in the filter !! I would make sure with the dealer that is NOT the case with our IS's...

If Suprafrank can tell a difference with his K&N filter, then it was money well-spent. It would be nice to see a dyno comparison, however, between the OEM filter and the K&N (similar to what Caymandive did with the Blitz filter). Do you know of anyone who has done this/is planning to do this?

I already impulsively purchased the Joe-Z intake pipe and K&N filter, so I'll let you know my butt-dyno impressions once they are installed.

My K&N filter should be out at my front door right now, probably been there for several days already. I *MAY* go do a dyno session on Saturday.

ive always gained 1-2 mpg using a non OEM filter and in addition to the fact you never have to buy 30+ dollar OEM ones again is enough reason for me to get one

May be the original filter was too dirty? I don't know. May be it's just psychological. Anyway, I am not putting in the cone filter for sure especially so much stop more than go traffic in my area. The cone filter will just suck in all the hot air from under the hood under stop more than go traffic. Well, I am thinking to switch to IS 500 when it comes out. Can't wait.

I used to have a Camaro and had a K&N filter in it for the whole time I had it, the dealership never said anything about it.
