I just got my K&N filter today. I put it in already. I can feel the engine breathes easier and the engine is more responsive. Also the A/C is stronger too (make sense??). It has been so hot up here in Nor Cal and it's good that my engine can get more air. Thumbs up.

The drop-in simple replaces the OEM filter, the airbox and the rest of the intake remain untouched, a cone filter would eliminate the stock air box...
But I agree with bdmac, there is no way you're going to actually feel the difference form a simple filter upgrade.

I think the drop-in replacement is just an exact replacement to the factory filter that goes in the factory filter box. I believe the cone filter requires you to remove the filter box (and filter) and replace the whole filter assembly with the cone filter which is exposed instead of encased in the filter box.

I know in the case of Cherolet, a K&N filter voids the warranty on the mass airflow sensor because of the oil contained in the filter !! I would make sure with the dealer that is NOT the case with our IS's...

If Suprafrank can tell a difference with his K&N filter, then it was money well-spent. It would be nice to see a dyno comparison, however, between the OEM filter and the K&N (similar to what Caymandive did with the Blitz filter). Do you know of anyone who has done this/is planning to do this?
I already impulsively purchased the Joe-Z intake pipe and K&N filter, so I'll let you know my butt-dyno impressions once they are installed.
