I was just in my mom's new Range rover top of the line, and I was very disappointed with the nav and back up camera. Resolution was pretty poor for a 80K+ vehicle, I did like the fact that the backup camera stayed on while I was in drive going less than I think 5 mph.

You're spoiled because we have the new generation 5 navi. One could just as easily complain that the nav in the comparitively inexpensive '07 Camry has a higher resolution than the (expensive) flagship Lexus LS430.

The Range Rover's satnav features an off-road mode that'll leave breadcrumbs so you can find your way back, and every SUV should have a system like the Rangey's 4-wheel drive unit with all of it's electronic trickery. The focus, IMO, of the Range Rover is not luxury first, but off-road capability first, followed by luxury. A high res screen would be nice, but I don't believe it's "as" necessary in a Rangey.

I just installed a new Eclipse GPS unit in my wife's ML-320 and as you know, it's basicaly the same software as in the IS-350. There are differences though as it allows the backup camera to be on at any time BUT... the video quality is crap. Before you ask, it only works with their specific camera (not standard NTIA video).
ALso, if you ground the parking brake line, everything is available while driving, even watching videos. It's just not very smart.

Its basically a one time thing... meaning, it will record your tracks, but once you delete them or start recording a new track, the old one is gone. works well though if you are not on any roads....however, in the IS we wont be going off-roading much.
