Speedo turns red at 100 mph. I've seen it a time or two.

Mine starts going off at 60, it's basically telling me I'm in speeding ticket range.

It feels better cruising at 100 than it does at 75..it'll glide at this speed, you need very little gas to keep it there.

A warning light that can be set by the driver as a reminder of excessive speeding is not a "substance-less" gizmo. But to each his own. A substance-less gizmo to me on Lexus vehicles is the radar cruise control...what idiot would activate cruise control and just let the car do all the driving?

This is INCORRECT. The speedo ring turns red at 100MPH regardless of what the orange ring is set to. I tested this yesterday. I set the orange ring at 65MPH and the red ring did not come on till 100MPH, and stays lit continuously at any speed past that...

Lol, Yeah but it was a sunny day and it was a VERY clear road, straight and no turns..you could see for miles! From inside the car, you'd never know how cold it was! I did slow way down for the turns though. That's through Mt Shasta I believe. Oh, and I'm a daughter. lol

Technique, I always drive w/my pwr button on..I like that it'll hold the rev's WAY longer and downshift when you tap the brakes. It's a huge difference but it's w/intelligence so you gotta drive harder for a few mins then you'll really notice!

Yes, you are totally right... It holds the gears nicely and downshifts well... It makes much more difference than I originally though because I had only driven the car for a few hours...

But yes, the way it holds gears is almost the way I would do it if the car were a manual transmission... I think after a few more days it will learn my driving habits and be just right

So... The orange is settable for either rpm or mph. BUT the red is not. Only comes on at 100mph?

Correct, you can only change orange.

Red comes on at 100MPH on the speedo, and redline on the Tach...

mine is at 76mph. I figure, if the light is on, that's when i need to look out for cops on the highways. 75 or under i should be safe.

I didn't set anything, so...as default, I think I am having 75mph & 5500rpm. Please correct me if I'm wrong.
